Sitting down to pray and meditate at altar?

Though one other thing... I have pictures of deities all over the house. Is it only because the shrine/altar area is used for worship that it is treated differently?

Its very common to have pictures all about ... reminders. We have Ganeshas everywhere, front hall, beside this desk, on the fridge, etc. As long as no lamps or incense are waved, they're not normally considered the same.

Nope, no incense or lights waved, as in "offered". But we do have candles all over the place. Sometimes they are in front of a deity's picture, which only illuminates it, but no worship is done to it.

Friends,

Personally find everything as Brahman in different forms including the self and so whatever is done is a prayer and for that no special preparation is required nor any mantra, nor any alter or picture or position etc.
