"Seven people, including an unborn baby, have been killed in a shooting at a Jehovah's Witness meeting hall in the German city of Hamburg, police say.
They say the gunman acted alone in Thursday's attack, and later took his own life. His motives are unknown.
The suspect, named only as Philipp F, is said to have had "ill feelings" towards the religious community, of which he had previously been a member."

Hamburg shooting: Seven killed in attack on Jehovah's Witness hall

The intention is now to tighten gun ownerhp laws even more.

It's so heartbreaking.
And saddening. These things should never happen in the safest places ever.

We don't have all the details yet, but it seems that this person had left the organization a while back and he held a grudge. Derranged people can be anywhere. I feel so sad for those who lost their lives, their familes and the community that used to be peaceful and safe. We never know when a horriblen situation like this can happen.

It was an ex JW. Shunning is not good for peoples mental health.
Nothing justifies murder. NOTHING . The idea that his mental health was impacted by being shunned - and we have no idea if that's true - can very easily lead to a "blame the victim" mentality. The people he killed are not to blame because he had a grudge, the same way a woman who was raped is not to blame because she was wearing a short skirt. Let's not loose sight of who did what.

You are right.
The action can't be justified. That was not my intention. It was just one possible explanation. And if it turns out that the shooter wasn't targeting just JW in general but specific people in that congregation, then this event is not in the same category as other mass shootings, then it was a personal revenge.
