Recently I came across a really interesting article about sex before marriage, and the bible.
The Bible doesn't contain any passage which explicitly says that one should remain celibate until marriage. The closest it gets is that one should not commit sexual immorality. Unfortunately it does not go on to explain what this is. It never once mentions fornication, but does mention adultery, beastiality, incest, etc. Maybe these are the immoral sexual acts it is meaning, no?
Anyway...In one passage Jesus says that sex makes two people into one flesh. In another passage Jesus says that noone should break the bond that God has made between two individuals. The latter can be confused with the bond made in the marriage ceremony, but if this was true, surely there would be a passage in the Bible which explains the ceremony. There isn'(to my knowledge), and the only mention of a bond between two people, is this bond which is made when a couple have sex.
There is talk of marriage in the Bible, but it is never explained how one gets married. And especially how Adam and Eve were married. Sex is, apparantly, a God given way to bond two people together, so maybe this bond is marriage? The act of sexual intercourse is the marital bond...
Sound possible?
Also, "the man who marries his virgin does well; the one who does not marry her will do better" (1Cor.7:32-34)". Why is there even talk of marrying a virgin, unless sex is a key role in marriage?
