Truth built on lies?
With enough discernment, valid wisdom can be built over legends of dubious veracity.

Whether either qualifies as truth, falsehood or lies is a factor of expectations and intellectual honesty.

I think the actual practice of the religion should be based on fact but the mythology or things can be whatever. The practice and lifestyle should be completely correct but everything else is extra anyway. In some ways the fantasy is there to explain the practices that work anyway.

Then those religions are grounded on false premises and the entire building collapses.
I don't think that a religion that can be destroyed by the revealing of myth as myth is worth calling a religion in the first place.
