Actually... I think this is a really cool interpretation of the verse, heh. =)

If something is Gods word, its forever. If you dont know something, it might come to light one day later.

Your question is valid, just ill informed.

That's not much use for the people who 'recieved' the 'final message' at the time though, is it?.
It is actually the scientific method which empowers people to learn about the universe; something which some creationists ironically try and reinterpret their scripture around in order to fit with the latest scientific discoveries.

Also, may I ask which god are you referring to: Hercules, Allah, Thor?
I know you're a Christian, but there are probably thousands of different gods to pick and choose from.

The point of this thread is to gain deeper understanding in verses 4-6 of the 86th Surah (At-Tariq). There are some controversies on this forum surrounding these verses, so I'd like to go over them thoroughly. =) Here are two different translations that give vastly different explanations... (http://www.quranexplorer.com/quran/)

Yusuf Ali: (4) Now let man but think from what he is created! (5) He is created from a drop emitted― (6) Proceeding from between the backbone and the ribs:

Pickthal: (4) So let man consider from what he is created. (5) He is created from a gushing fluid (6) That issued from between the loins and ribs.

Now, even though the verse itself doesn't say "semen" outright (in fact, some translations say "water"), it seems that the verses are describing semen; after all, what other liquid ejecting from a person's body creates people?

The problem is that the ejaculatory duct is found in the pelvis (bellow the bladder), and some translations say that this liquid comes from between the ribs and the backbone. Other translations say that the liquid comes from between between the ribs and the loins; depending on the meaning of the word "loins" this could have vastly different implications (one area being along the spine, the other being down by the sexual organs).

So I guess my first questions are, "Is the Arabic word for 'loins' and 'spine' really the same word," and "What specifically are the word's meanings?" =/

Thanks!

Edit: Oh, by the way, I believe these are the verses in Arabic?

There is a fact you must know about the Quran. Any translation of the Quran is not the Quran, the Quran is the Arabic version only. So if there was any misinterpretation by the interpreters, the Quran can not be held accountable for their errors.

"Verily WE created Man from a drop Of mingled sperm."

[AL-QUR'AN 76:2]

The Arabic word 'nutfatun amshaajin' means mingled liquids. According to some commentators of the QUR'AN, mingled liquids refers to the male or female agents or liquids. After mixture of male and female gamete, the zygote still remains 'nutfah'. Mingled liquids can also refer to spermatic fluid that is formed of various secretions that come from various glands. Therefore 'nutfatun amshaaj', i.e. a minute quantity of mingled fluids refers to the male and female gametes (germinal fluids or cells) and part of the surrounding fluids.

Dr. Keith Moore confirms this, him being a professor of Embryology and a Christian.

Muhammad is 100% correct about DNA Chromosomes of the parents overpowering the each other to resemble the Father or Mother genetic History.

This is said all the time to everyone even daughters, your girls have their Fathers genes and to the sons, I see you have your Mothers genes.

If man’s liquid (semen) prevails over the liquid of woman, the child will resemble his father. If the woman’s liquid prevails over his liquid, then the child will resemble her. al-Bukhārī Saḥīḥ, al-anbiyā’ Kitāb. Bāb qawl Allah ta`ālā Hadith no. 3151

Loins means testicles the word backbone isn't in the commentary but the interpretation is the seminal gland near the backbone lower spinal column and this is the fluid and not from the backbone, but the Arabic says amongst the backbone.

Read the Qur'an again because it says amongst the backbone the fluid comes from between the legs and the loins and amongst the backbone according to the Arabic.

The Qur'an isn't wrong.

The Qur'an is saying the seminal fluid comes from the loins and among the backbone between the legs.

Semen comes from the loins and amongst the backbone spine the seminal gland that produces seminal fluid, there's no scientific error in the Qur'an.

Look at the picture of the seminal gland and the backbone lower spine the seminal vesicle is amongst the backbone The semen travels from the testicles to the seminal vesicle near the backbone and the bladder near the rectum amongst the backbone there's no scientific error in the Qur'an the semen gets mixed with the seminal fluid from amongst the backbone by the rectum

Nobody knew this scientific miracle and the semen traveling to the seminal vesicle in the company of the backbone between the legs from the loins.

Scientific Miracle in the Qur'an: Quran 86:5-7
"Now let man but think From what he is created! He is created from A fluid emitted --- Proceeding from among backbone, between the legs."

The Qur'an is speaking about the seminal fluid coming from between the legs loins of a man the Pelvic area near the Spinal Column the Backbone:

This would be a Scientific Miracle, because the Quran doesn't say Sperm but Water Seminal Fluid, coming from among the Backbone, loins, between the Legs.

The Quran is speaking about the fluid seminal fluids from among the backbone that's between the legs, referring to the males seminal fluids, located near the spinal column near the backbone between the legs of a man, the sulb loins near the Spinal Column and` tarib between the legs.

Can the Sperm alone fertilize the human ovum?

Sperm alone cannot even move very well. They need energy to swim to the egg and penetrate it. That is provided by fructose, a sugar produced by the seminal vesicles.

Prostaglandin hormones are needed to suppress an immune response by the female against the foreign semen.

Zinc is needed to stabilize the DNA of the sperms.

Metal and salt ions are needed to make the pH of the vaginal cavity favorable for the sperm to survive.

Lipids, steroid hormones, enzymes, basic amines, and amino acids are also needed to perform vital functions.

The ejaculated fluid has all that is needed, including the sperms (2-5% sperms, 95-98% other ingredients). The statement of the Quran is absolutely correct!

Let man look at (and bear in mind) the substance he is created from! (He is) created from the surging fluid, which springs from among the lower spine, between his legs and loins! 86:5-7

The fluid of the women does help create the fetus as well as the fluid if the man that both come forth from among the backbone and between their legs loins and both are needed for human reproduction.

Squirting fluid. This fluid is usually colorless and odorless, and it occurs in large quantities.

Ejaculate fluid. This type more closely resembles male semen. It is typically thick and appears milky.

Analysis has shown that the fluid contains prostatic acid phosphatase (PSA). PSA is an enzyme present in male semen that helps sperm motility.

Female ejaculation: What is it, is it real, and are there any benefits?

Cervical fluid, sometimes called cervical mucus, is a type of vaginal discharge that changes in quantity and color at different points in a woman’s cycle. Produced by the cervix and regulated by the hormones estrogen and progesterone, this fluid nourishes sperm cells, protecting them as they travel through the vagina and cervix to fertilize an egg.
