Scammers are persistent. Now there are some famous people who will get offers but unless you've done something you've not disclosed to us, I'd dismiss that offer especially if they want money upfront.

If they want something from you, then it's advertising.

I am pretty sure that those who are interested will have to pay the publishers, rather than publishers pay the writer. I know of one outfit that was a vanity press, they would market the book, but the writer would pay expenses, including editorial expenses (I knew one of the editors), and maybe get something back if the book actually sold. I know of another that would print poems from hundreds of individuals, but these persons who were accepted to have their poems printed in a rather large book, had to pay the publisher.

Sounds like self publishing, in which case you bear the costs up front, and the risks.

But if you have written something you want published, you can self publish e-books for zero cost. You still have to market them somehow though.

Check where the mails come from, not the address you see, that can be cloaked look in the header. If it doesn't match the visible addresses be cautious.

I once saw an advert to write paid posts. There are also companies that ask (in spam) for permission to post commercial content. So there are probably companies out there both offering to pay writers and to sell to forums. Must be some money in it. Would it help forums or ruin them? I don't know.

To be very frank this kind of information only gets shared with no one or with some few people who do not talk to me about it.

I suspect that it is lucrative but not infinitely lucrative. I bet that the money goes up and down a lot. More than likely there is some risk involved, since they purchased the site; but possibly they are turning a profit since the site continues to exist.

A visit to internic.net shows that the site is hosted through cloudflare, and that is public information. We use Xenforo on top of that as our database thingy. If you sit with a calculator you can approximate the money required to keep the site going. To be very accurate you'd need to simulate it the site on cloud flare with your own copy of xenforo and a fat pumpkin of data, but you could come up with an outside number without doing all of that. Last of all you could, then, record how many adverts we get here; but you still wouldn't know how much $$ since google gives different amounts for different kinds of adverts and for different types of leads.

    All public information.
