@Sunstone hates it when I just title it 'poem' so I do it.

Darkness, darkness and your arms around me, a window barely letting light in-
Your hands in my hair, my frigid mouth is smiling,
what could I say that would be the right thing?
Non verba, there is no talking – no not here –
just us in a darkened room and our feet pacing
on the floor to a rhythm I swear I heard before but nevermind,
the point is in your eyes that hide beneath the hat and
dare my soul to feel the joy in our movements of a dance that I don’t know.

You talk nonsense and I craft equally senseless responses
To the tune of your hand on my face and the feet of ten thousand horses in my heart,
Trying to imitate your art but failing on every count and wondering how-

Don’t be afraid, open up, are such easy statements to make when my whole self is
At stake, aren’t they? Oh no don’t rock me faster, I don’t know what I’m doing there’s
Pitch all around me and well I guess that doesn’t matter, I’m here now.

It’s not the way you’re holding me,
It’s that you’re holding me at all, in a darkened hall anyone could walk in
And instead of sitting back to back we’re dancing of all things and
I’m looking in your eyes in a way only a grave misdemeanour can and I don’t understand.

And in that way only mindless dreams can conjure your smile makes everything better,
And in a moment I’m looking at my master, wondering what I was just so afraid of that
I tried so hard, but not too hard, to pull away with one excuse after the other-
Nothing worked, nothing ever does, and soon I’m in more trouble than ever-
But he knows I like it, brother.
