Libertarian values are important to my identity.
But they transcend nationality, religion, etc.

Sure, but I assume they're your opinions, right? Rather than the opinions of any political party you associate yourself with. I'd think your identity would come from your own political views, instead of those of the party you're part of.

The party's values comport quite well with mine.
If they ever diverged, I'll switch to the lower case "l" kind of libertarian.
Because ethics trumps identity.
