Why some many boards for non-debate?

Isn't the thought of discussing ideas only with people that agree with you, kind of scary?

Perhaps the problem is people don't debate in debates but just shout each other down and call each other names?

I'm curious.

Anyway, enjoy your silos and ivory towers.

Some posters take it very personally if someone disagrees with them.
Usually, it's cuz I'm uninformed, misinformed, stupid, dishonest, biased, misanthropic, uneducated & corrupted by Fox News (which I don't even watch).
Some even say I'm revolting....as though I've never heard that one before.

The DIRs allow believers to discuss things that would be sidetracked in open debate. For instance, if you are trying to discuss your deity's preference in sports cars, it can't be done if some pesky non-believer is always sidetracking your thread into a discussion of whether your deity actually exists.

Of course, the DIRs can be abused.
