I might have heard this programme at the time and forgotten about it (2005), but a listen recently was just so nice to hear someone with very much the same sentiments as myself - apart from his apparent dislike of children - him never having any biological ones, nor me either though. And as to almost being a brother - given so many of his choices of music on Desert Island Discs (Bonzo Dog, Brubeck, Waits, and some of the other music) and as to his comments regarding his political allegiance - Briggs stated that he used to be a staunch supporter of the Labour Party, although he lost faith in the party under the leadership of Jeremy Corbyn. Plus his holidaying at Loch Fyne, Scotland - close to where we did much sailing. Apart from my artistic talent not being that great - although I did attend an evening course at an art college (not much progress) and I was a competent engineering draughtsman.
