Visit www.youtube.com and find some of your favorite music videos to share!

Here is one of mine. I'll share more in another post later.

This is song by Selma Bajrami. Selma is a Bosniak, a Muslim, from Tuzla, in northeast Bosnia and Herzegovina. The song is called 'Kakvo tijelo Selma ima' which means, basically, 'What a great body Selma has'.

She's notorious for trying to push the boundaries, kind of like an Islamic Madonna. In this video, for example, she strips an Israeli model and lies with him.

Another of my favorite videos is by Haifa Wehbe. Haifa is a Lebanese artist who was recently voted Most Beautiful Woman in the Middle East by people magazine.

She's not really known for her singing abilities, she's more recognized as a beautiful entertainer. She's also always in trouble for something, whether it's the mysterious daughter no one knows who she had with, or most recently having fled Lebanon for Cairo in the war, upsetting many Lebanese who felt she abandonned them.

This song is Aqool Ahwak, and it is one of my favorite songs to dance to in the entire world! :)

This next song is very, very addictive. It's a cover of Turkish song (Of of by Guzel), Stohos by Kaiti Garbi. The Greek language suits this music so well, the nonchalant, disinterested tone in her voice reflects a Balkan pride and stubborness that I just can't help but love!

You can almost hear her, "Yes, I'm singing. You're lucky to hear it at all so sit down and enjoy." :D

Albanian, for those who have never heard it, is one of the most beautiful languages on earth. There is not a single sound in the Albanian language that doesn't just melt your heart with it's soft quality. It's even a joke that Albanian men sound 'gay' in other languages because they're so used to speaking so softly and beautifully.

This is a beautiful song by Leonora Jakupi, an Albanian woman from Serbia's Kosovo province. She's a very inspiring person, which makes you love her even more. Despite losing many family members in the Kosovo war, she still refuses to get involved in politics and often sings a couple of Serbian songs at her Kosovo concerts.

The Idan Rachiel Project is my favorite group from Israel. One of the lead singers is an Ethiopian Jew so the band as all these unusual and beautiful African influences.

I have no idea what this song is called or what it says but it's one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard and the video is amazing. :)

Lebanon has, in my opinion, the best artists in the Arab world - and Dolly Chahine is no exception. She has a soft, deep voice that suits her relaxed style of singing perfectly.

This song is a beautiful little dance number.

PS: Dolly is my style inspiration. I copy her make-up, hair, and clothing styles all the time. :flirt:

I like some music from that part of the world. I like Baaba Maal from Senegal, and I used to listen to a radio station in Chicago that played "rai" music from the area around Albania and Turkey. But I liked the older rai music, not the later, more "pop" stuff. I tend to lose interest when foreign artists begin imitating American or western styles.

Have you heard of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan or Kaouding Cissoko? I listen to their music often as well.

No, I haven't heard of either of them, PureX. :) I love Albanian and Turkish music as well, especially Albanian for some reason. I think it must be because the accent relaxes me or something, it's just a beautiful language.

Here is one you might like, a Lebanese song. It's a very passionate performance. Nawal al'Zoghby, a Lebanese artist, is being interviewed during the latest war and she's crying. This was her response to the question how she feels.

War frustrates me. 87% of Lebanese, including the Christians, now support Hezbollah - compared to less than 40% before the war. These are the fruits of violence, not peace.

Mariza! Yes, I have her on a DVD singing that exact song! It's not a music vidio, it's a live performance for a british musical TV show ("Later" with Jools Holland). She's great!
