What are some songs that get or have got you to think about stuff. Political, spitiually.it doesn't matter nor does the genre.
Lately listening to some songs from Scar Symmetry have got me to open up and think about some of the thing a believe and think(and have been leaning towards anyway).
Here are two to start:

YouTube - Scar Symmetry-Ghost Prototype | - Measurement of Thought
A law of nature undefined
Subtle force we find at play
A door to thoughts revealed now
Open the gate, step outside the frame

Then you will find that your shallow role is but a symptom of thoughts inside
Don't say you must play that role to define yourself

Now space and time seem to decline
See the sky behind the wave
Internal worlds reveal how
Thoughts can descend like a falling rain

Then you will find that your shallow role is but a symptom of thoughts inside
Don't say you must play that role to define yourself

Ride beyond time and you'll know
That new thoughts descend now
Fly beyond time and you'll know

I am at one with all things
When you measure your thoughts you will find that I have no form

A law of nature undefined
Revealed now
Open the gate, step outside the frame

Then you will find that your shallow role is but a symptom of thoughts inside
Don't say you must play that role to define yourself

Ride beyond time and you'll know
That new thoughts descend now
Fly beyond time and you'll know

YouTube - Ghost Prototype II (Deus Ex Machina), by Scar Symmetry
And then we found it all caged inside a dream
All-seeing eye sees afloat
Soon it will see no more

For we will not conform
We're ghosts in the machine

A holographic world-view, existance in display
Where everything must work as one and never break in two
This concept lives forever outside all state control
And ever shedding skin

All things new are fought against
Even though their time has come
Stretch and reach to conscious mind
Seek defeat in those who fear

For we will not conform
We're ghosts in the machine

Each separated droplet seek to rejoin the sea
The structure of the hologram can never break in two
Ways to embrace and enter the oneness of it all
Are ever shedding skin

While it's waiting to rise within
Know you'll never confrom
While it's rising, for one, for all
Rise on your own

Rising just to remind you
The inner sector is where you built this nightmare
Rivers will always flow forth into the ocean
A manifest of silent rhyme

Silent rhyme
Wordless rhyme

And then we found it all caged inside a dream
All-seeing eye sees afloat
Soon it will see no more

All things new are fought against
Even though their time has come

For we will not conform
We're ghosts in the machine

Change how you look at all things and what you see will change
Observer and what is observed can never break in two
The quantum revolution never cease to evolve
Forever shedding skin

While it's waiting to rise within
Know you'll never confrom
While it's rising, for one, for all
Rise on your own

Listening to Bob Marley when I was a teenager got me thinking about politics and human rights issues. I don't agree with the religious elements of Rastafarianism, but as a political voice, it had a lot to say.

Dead Kennedys - When Ya Get Drafted

Are you believing the morning papers? / War is coming back in style / There’s generals here, advisers there / And Russians nibbling everywhere / The chessboard’s filling up with red / We make more profits when we blow off their heads / Economy is looking bad / Let’s start another war, when ya get drafted / Fan the fires of racist hatred / We want a total war, when ya get drafted / Drooling fingers, panic buttons / Playing with missiles like they’re toys / There’s easy money, easy jobs / Especially when you build the bombs / That blow big cities off the map / Just guess who profits when we build ‘em back up / Yeah, what big Business wants Big Business gets / It wants a war, when ya get drafted / Trilateral Commission goonies laugh / and scheme for more, when ya get drafted / Call the Army! Call the Navy! / Stocked with kids from slums, when ya get drafted / If you can’t afford a slick attorney / We might make you a spy / Forget your demonstrations / Kids today sit on their ***, when ya get drafted / Just a six-pack and you’re happy / We’re prepared for, when ya get drafted

Collective Soul- The World I Know

Has our conscience shown?
Has the sweet breeze blown?
Has all the kindness gone?
Hope still lingers on

I drink myself of newfound pity
Sitting alone in New York City
And I don't know why

Are we listening
To hymns of offering?
Have we eyes to see
That love is gathering?

All the words that I've been reading
Have now started the act of bleeding into one
Into one

So I walk up on high and I step to the edge
To see my world below
And I laugh at myself while the tears roll down
'Cause it's the world I know, it's the world I know

I drink myself of newfound pity
Sitting alone in New York City
And I don't know why, I don't know why

So I walk up on high and I step to the edge
To see my world below
And I laugh at myself while the tears roll down
'Cause it's the world I know, it's the world I know

Yeah, I walk up on high and I step to the edge
To see my world below
And I laugh at myself while the tears roll down
'Cause it's the world I know, it's the world I know

Where Have all the Flowers Gone?

Where have all the flowers gone?
Long time passing
Where have all the flowers gone?
Long time ago
Where have all the flowers gone?
Girls have picked them every one
When will they ever learn?
When will they ever learn?

Where have all the young girls gone?
Long time passing
Where have all the young girls gone?
Long time ago
Where have all the young girls gone?
Taken husbands every one
When will they ever learn?
When will they ever learn?

Where have all the young men gone?
Long time passing
Where have all the young men gone?
Long time ago
Where have all the young men gone?
Gone for soldiers every one
When will they ever learn?
When will they ever learn?

Where have all the soldiers gone?
Long time passing
Where have all the soldiers gone?
Long time ago
Where have all the soldiers gone?
Gone to graveyards every one
When will they ever learn?
When will they ever learn?

Where have all the graveyards gone?
Long time passing
Where have all the graveyards gone?
Long time ago
Where have all the graveyards gone?
Covered with flowers every one
When will we ever learn?
When will we ever learn?

Insane Clown Posse's song Miracles has me convinced that we are doomed as a species.
