Miscarriages

Could a miscarriage be seen as a type of birth control?
It is, at least in non-human animals. Many species react with miscarriages under stress. It is better for the survival of the species to interrupt a pregnancy when there is strong risk that the offspring will not survive. No need to put resources into an unlikely outcome. Better try to survive and try later.

i've read of numerous cases where mother's couldn't conceive. then they adopted children and strangely enough found themselves pregnant.

so is the stress psychological and/or physical?

For non-human animals it is almost always physical, hunger, high predator pressure, etc.
I'm not aware of studies about humans and stress induced miscarriages.
There are however, as you said, studies of stress induced infertility in humans.

infertility couldn't be a form of birth control?

Well, infertility is a natural form of birth control on species level. Overpopulation often raises infertility significantly.
But your question was about miscarriages.

I'll tell ya what a miscarriage might become...
If the law treats a fetus as a person, then a
miscarriage might be treated as a suspicious
death, requiring police investigation.
Was there negligence by a parent?
Was it induced, ie, murder?
Full autopsies would be standard.

Most happen early on in the pregnancy, so no one might know. It may cause women to wait until they are showing to even mention it, in case they do miscarry. So much to think about.

Hmmm....early pregnancies might require
that government surveil women's physiology
so that no life & possible death goes undetected.

I'm just full of great ideas this week, eh!
