Well after 5 years of marriage and sex 3 times a day; I 'd had enough. (5000 times)
Holy cow! I would imagine so!

14 years later, and it just seems like a cloying claustrophobic neediness and fear.

Now if I presume to take the average of 3 times a week multiplied by 46 years thats 7000 times.

Sorry, I'm just a compulsive calculator.
But how much is enough to be tired of it?
I'd say that's a matter of personal opinion.

So if Jesus didn't mean to literally tear one's eyes out and throw them away, then what was he implying we should do? After all, this was a command to do something.

It means that we should get rid of whatever is causing the sin. If it's a sinful, lustful picture lying around, burn it. Evil movies? Trash them. Porn? Turn on safe search. Do what you can to prevent the sin from happening. That's what he meant.

So entertaining sexual thoughts about one's spouse isn't pure? Why not? Thing is, god gave humans the propensity to lust. He made it part of our character. It isn't something we choose to do. As I asked Musing Bassist, "Do you really think people stop and say to themselves, "Hey that's a really hot looking guy over there. I think I'll choose to lust after him? No, lust is an autonomic response that's inherent in one's character. Character that god gave us.

Well, it was more of a personal opinion, but I actually don't know for sure. Yes, God gave us lust, but not to lust after random people. Only your spouse. Sorry for the months late reply. Life whacks me up the head lol
