All they need to do to get people to visit is present those wonderful buttery stuffed dumplings, served in the yogurt sauce(I have too many recipes in my head to remember names anymore)... Now look, you've gone and made me hungry.

The dumplings I had in Prague were doughy and heavy, but it was far from a fancy restaurant I was eating them in, they soaked up gravy well, and given the amount of beer I drank in Czech, the heaviness was probably a good thing.

When in Rome, and all that...

I still like it was yesterday all these Americans arguing over Kazakhstan being a real place or not, and many of them being surprised to learn it is indeed a real nation (and they don't speak Hebrew:tearsofjoy:)

I knew Kazakhstan was a place, even back when it was still called the Kazakh Soviet Socialist Republic. My city and the Kazakh former capital city (Almaty) became sister cities a few decades ago. I'm not sure exactly what that means, though.

It means they are in great danger as they aren't aware their greatest threat isn't the Jew, it's the Yankee.

It means it would now be illegal for the two cities to marry, I believe.

I'm not sure exactly what that means, though.

I i understand it, it means town counsellors and officials get an annual free holiday in the sister city under the guise of "learning how they do the equivalent of my job" at taxpayers expense

Come! Visit Kazakhstan, it is Very Nice!
Sci-Hub was founded by a citizen of Kazakhstan. Her name is Alexandra Elbakyon, and she is helping to get publicly funded science publications to people who can't afford to pay the price gouging of the big five publishers that believe they should own the knowledge paid for by taxpayers and contributed by researchers. She's been sued, of course. She claims that "...the goal of the project is first and foremost the dissemination of scholarly knowledge in society,..." (quote taken from Open Access @ UNT)
