Jesus doesn't believe in evolution

Silver

Just maybe
Mark 10:5-6

5 ....... Jesus replied. 6 “But at the beginning of creation God ‘made them male and female.’

Evolution, in the beginning, started with a sexless cell. Not until many many years later did male and female cells comeinto being. Therefore Jesus didn't believe in evolution. BUt scientific evidence points towards evolution.

Is Jesus therefore wrong in what he says in Mark 10:5-6

Probably he just made a mistake.

He was supposed to guide people spiritually, not teach biology xD

Ancient primitives didn't have a very good grasp on biology.
Anaximander (611 BCE-546 BCE) was one of evolution's most ancient proponents. (Yes, his biology was off, humans forming in the mouths of fish, but he was basing his work on fossils and refraining from myth and religion)

Obviously, Jesus was not a student of his works.;)

Jesus would not have known about evolution in that timeframe.
Even if we supposed he did, would his disciples have understood it? Would it be worth saying to his disciples something that would not be understood by them?

Plus, if we did, it'd be like this:

“But at the beginning of creation God ‘made them as single-celled organisms who reproduced with themselves, eventually becoming more and more a complex organisms, eventually giving birth to mammals, who in turn slowly became the fathers of proto-humans, and then humans, who were, from the beginning, male and female.’ 7 ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, 8 and the two will become one flesh.’ So they are no longer two, but one flesh. 9 Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.”

Kind of ruins the explanation for his point. And the next verse would probably be something like, "And his disciples, hearing this said, asked Jesus, 'What?'"

:p

Are we human yet, or do we have to bake a bit longer? (Anyone believe in devolution?)

Jesus was quoting Jewish Scripture to make a point to the Pharisees about divorce. He was referring to the creation of humankind as male and female, not life in general.

Can you explain this a bit more? I'm a bit confused by your question.
There is always room for improvement. Look at how our understanding has advanced since these words were written. We even seem like we even treat each other better now than we did back then--until you look at the twentieth century war causalities. A couple of steps forward, and a slide back or a relapse.

Oh, btw, I do believe that Jesus did believe in the possibility of evolution of our consciousness by the sounds of his teachings, so yes, it does sound like be believed in evolution. ;)

Our behaviour doesn't affect what species we are, though. We are humans until we can no longer successfully interbreed with each other.

Jesus was meant to be God ....he would know everything

If he knew about evolution he wouldn't have said "In the beginning God made them male and female". He would have come up with a correct simple phrase.

According to Trinitarianism, maybe.
But even then, he's still fully man.

If he knew about evolution he wouldn't have said "In the beginning God made them male and female". He would have come up with a correct simple phrase.
But, what good would it have been to teach something that the people would not have understood nor known that was irrelevant to them, their daily lives, and even the moral behind his words here?

What fall?
Let's back up a bit here:

Oh, btw, I do believe that Jesus did believe in the possibility of evolution of our consciousness by the sounds of his teachings, so yes, it does sound like be believed in evolution. ;)
Evolution of consciousness=go to heaven (evolve)
Devolution of consciousness=go to hell (devolve)

So yes, Jesus did believe in evolution, but not in the way you are thinking.

So the question is: did man devolve with the Fall? (Look around at all the suffering here--this certainly isn't heaven....)
