Jehovah's Witness. What do you think of Luke 9:51-56?Why wasn't jesus mad at the samaritians for not receiving him?
.
I find John 4:9 explains that Jews did Not have dealing with Samaritans.
Luke 9:54 compares from 2 Kings 1:10.
It was Not yet time for the preaching campaign among the Samaritans - Acts of the Apostles 8:14; Acts of the Apostles 8:25.
Remember the Jews were given the first opportunity to follow Christ, then afterwards the Samaritan, and lastly the people of Gentile nations.
That one particular village of Luke 9:53 simply turned Jesus away because he was a Jew.
So, the disciples may have misunderstood at this point and referred back to 2 Kings 1:10.
But as Luke 9:55 informs us that Jesus 'rebuked' his disciples, and in verse 56 they simply went to a different village.
That different village could have been another Samaritan village.
And like us, the disciples could have wrongly cursed others in their hearts - Ecclesiastes 7:22; James 3:2; James 3:8-9
So, Jesus was showing that one's background in itself does Not make a person an enemy, so Not get mad.
And being quick anger is being foolish - Proverbs 14:17 - especially when over reacting.
Seems that like Jesus those disciples should have just ignored the behavior of the people in the first village.
