If a time machine transported the long dead Jesus forward in time to the 21st century, I wonder how he would react to what is being said and done in his name? Some Christian extremists drag through the sewer Jesus and the faith, which was created well after he died, with him as the figurehead.
I have no time for those who use the Bible as an excuse to bolster their unpleasant behaviour like a hatred of homosexuals. As I have said many times, it is possible Jesus could have been gay as the Bible mentions he had a specific disciple whom he loved, who was likely to have been a male. He never condemned, homosexuality, which is not one of the ten commandments either.
I suspect if he had been a decent sort of guy Jesus would be shocked at how the Bible is interpreted by extremists. 'Depart from me for I never knew you', might be the expletive he would use if he encountered them.
Whilst my husband and I don't see it their way, we have no problem with moderate live and let live Christians, who often do a lot of good in this world, like our own three daughters, of whom we are very proud. I reckon Jesus would be proud of people like them too.
