The Moon calendar is hard to keep up with.
Not really. Just go by whatever 'your' 'panchanga' (your favored calendar) says. Do not worry if other 'panchangas' show something else.
For example, my family is celebrating ShivaRatri today, i.e., Monday.
Wife will have a whole day fast. Me, the atheist, have already congratulated Shiva and Mother Parvati. They smiled.
Nuts, fruits, tea allowed.
ps - Not just my family but all Hindus in India and the Government of India. I am a bit surprised that you people mention Saturday.

Since there is no temple or hindu communauty around. So...Like every year it will be at home, alone. Sacred days where people go to temple and celebrate always have a bitter taste in my mouth, but I have no way to go and attend...Too far away. I kinda feel like a remote devotee lost in some far away place in his cave xD

But...It's not a bad thing at all. I have what is the most important, and I will follow vigil Sunday night. Reading, meditating, mantra japa, abhisekam...I'll be with my dear Lord outside, and inside.

Being alone is a great advantage...In silence, in meditation, you forget the company of the self...And you can find easier the company of Siva deep within you. When I'll do this, there will be only bliss this night, for me this is worth every singing and every party !

Have a great MahaShivratri everyone !

Aum Namah Shivaya
Good that you take it that way.
These days festival activities from major Hindu temples are live on internet. You could see and enjoy that. PM Narendra Modi and Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath were at Kashi Vishwanath temple. PM has been elected from Varanasi / Kashi constituency. I am sure festivities at Mahakala temple in Ujjain, Somnath, etc. were and are beamed live.

May all of you who celebrate have a bliss-filled and auspicious Maha Shivaratri!!

(Yeah, us Western Hemisphere people always show up late to the party.)
