Do what you can. As a father, I hope to never be in a position where my kids can say 'he wasn't in my life', and if it happens it's on me. But if possible, some sort of reconciliation is a special thing.

@RayofLight - hope it all works out. Up until a couple of years ago, I wasn't speaking at all to my father. Things change. People change. He atoned for the pain he caused me...and things are really good between us. It takes time.
