gods of insanity and creativity?

Something along the lines of the Daedric Prince Sheogorath from the Elder Scrolls video game series, or something else really bipolar-e.

I mean, if I can't find some real-life god to gear my creative right-brain and crazy self into... I might go to actually worshiping a god from a video game.

Can any Neo-Pagans help me?

Azathoth? Dionysus?

Someone elsewhere online just told me Loki might work... is that true? You've worked with Loki before.

As for Dinoysus, I've looked into him, and am still researching him for a new lesser god that I might wanna worship.

edit: Hey! Azathoth is Love Craftian, I wanted real/historical gods, not ones from science-fiction or video games... or else I would of went for Sheogorath.

I wouldn't call Loki insane. Non-conventional yes, but I see him more as a "crazy like a fox" mastermind.

Dionysus (link). Lyssa (link). There are probably others, but I'm not much for working with classical Pagan deities so my knowledge of them is somewhat limited. The Greek pantheon is the one I know best. It wouldn't surprise me of Sheogorath was inspired by Dionysus. Take this mythos related to the god:

Theoi said:
Lycurgus, son of Dryas, and king of the Edones in Thrace. He is famous for his persecution of Dionysus and his worship on the sacred mountain of Nyseion in Thrace. The god himself leaped into the sea, where he was kindly received by Thetis. Zeus thereupon blinded the impious king, who died soon after, for he was hated by the immortal gods. (Hom. Il. vi. 130, &c.) The punishment of Lycurgus was represented in a painting in a temple at Athens. (Paus. i. 20. § 20.) The above Homeric story about Lycurgus has been much varied by later poets and mythographers. Some say that Lycurgus expelled Dionysus from his kingdom, and denied his divine power; but being intoxicated with wine, he first attempted to do violence to his own mother, and to destroy all the vines of his country. Dionysus then visited him with madness, in which he killed his wife and son, and cut off one (some say both) of his legs; or, according to others, made away with himself. (Hygin. Fab. 132, 242; Serv. ad Aen. iii. 14.) According to Apollodorus (iii. 5. § 1), Dionysus, on his expeditions, came to the kingdom of Lycurgus, but was expelled; where-upon he punished the king with madness, so that he killed his son Dryas, in the belief that he was cutting down a vine. When this was done, Lycurgus recovered his mind; but his country produced no fruit, and the oracle declared that fertility should not be restored unless Lycurgus were killed. The Edonians therefore tied him, and led him to mount Pangaeum, where he was torn to pieces by horses.

Man, is it evil that reading that makes me giggle? >_<;

Additionally, there's no reason why you can't honor Sheogorath as a deity. Utilizing popular culture is frowned upon by some, but I have no problem with it. If the concept and iconography speaks to you, use it.

I'm confused, did Dionysus kill his own mom and kids and cut off his own legs? I got confused in all the carnage with who's relatives he was killing, due to how the pronouns were used. lol

Also Sheogorath is a god basically of poetry, madness [mental illness], creativity, and music. He isn't up with the wine and parties though, that's another in universe god. So I can see the similarity, the makers of the series are myth makers with a very rich history and many rich cultures, so who knows where they got it :shrug:

Any other suggestions to look into?

No, no... Dionysus inspired madness in Lycurgus for being a disrespectful of the Dionysian cult. The maddened Lycurgus is the one who did the killing and butchering. Theoi is a great site, but it can be arcane at times.

I'll have to think on it. My brain is stuck thinking about the Four Elements right now since I'm re-writing those files for my Book of Shadows. And my brain is really, really stuck on it because I always get terribly perfectionistic on this topic.

I am not really sure, but Sheogorath is my favorite Daedra from the ES series. So I would like to know the answer to this one to, if there is a real God like him that is referenced in our Universe.
