Genesis 1:20 -> Genesis 3:5

In the book of Genesis in the holy scriptures God starts off after creating the heavens and the world by making animals, sea creatures, birds and humans that are all working by instinct. Then after awhile God creates a tree with the knowledge of Good and Bad for the "benefit" of angels and mankind. Why?

If "x" thousands or millions of years went by and all went well, what did both angels and humans need the knowledge of Bad and Good for?

Answer to both questions must be for God to spice up his existence according to the examples and proofs in the holy scriptures because time had already proven that all things went according to the design of each specification.

Its ancient Sumerian mythology t3gah, a way for people to understand why they think and other animals seem to rely entirely on instinct. I believe most Jews, Christians and Muslims nowadays only treat the genesis stories as symbolic anyway.
