For those that still play this game. What's your favorite play style/roleplay? Do you have a character you've designed you've had more fun with then others? Why or why not?

Fallout I tend to be more just whatever gets it done, though I tend to not go with rocket launches, flame throwers and that sort and tend to prefer sniper rifles and high powered handguns. And also the luck stat (I think, it's been awhile), enough to get things like the Mysterious Stranger. I also do a lot of lock picking and hacking, but not spend that many points in them since I'm generally able to easily do those without the perks.

The most fun I've ever had playing Fallout was this time, I was playing 4, and I came to this radio tower controlled by Super Mutants. I had a bit of a hard time so I retreated and returned in a battle suit. And as I began lighting them up Wagner's Die Walküre began playing, and continued as I marched to delivery death. And then what made it even better was afterwards, as I was gathering loot, one of the softer classic pieces was playing, really giving it a sort of Silence of the Lamb feel to it after Hannibal killed those cops.:D

I'm trying to run a heavy guns build in FO4 right now, but even with ammo and cap scrounger I can ot keep enough ammunition to make it feasible to use only heavy weapons. Well, at least not my Gatling gun.

I always ended up HtH specializing. It was too overwhelming for anything but a Deathclaw. Get in close, and DOOM!

Sometimes I would add on the explosives and computer programming. Meh.

Idk if I've ever done a pure HtH build. I've done melee and explosives though. Or my standard is just a Semi-auto rifle, high caliber rounds, and vats precision.

Twilight Hue

Twilight, not bright nor dark, good nor bad.
Vats is a fun way to play in New Vegas. I love that you can use VATS for explosives. I like running around and just lobbing grenades and dynamite at people.
Isn't it?

It gives a whole different perspective on "bullet time"!

TX to Max Payne. (Another great game)

I never did take the time to play Max Payne. I'm playing Outer Worlds as well right now, and that essentially has Bullet Time. Tactical Time Dilation.

Max was my first PC game I got. Thats when my love for bullet time started and rag doll physics. I miss PC gamer magizine with the demo disk included to play AAA games.

Another contention that people are no longer allowed to try before you buy most demos. Now they give demos out to those ' selected' to shill.. er 'play' the game for you. Shows the lack of confidence AAA development has now. But that's for another thread.

Suffice to say, it would love to see a return to that wonderful time in the 90s early 2000s where games had everything and included everything, from single player to multi-player.

Let's hope the Fallout franchise dosent go the way Fallout 76 did. 'Games as a service' like phone games.....brrrr....

Fallout New Vegas….

Where even to begin?

I was living in the Vegas area when this game came out. It was my first Fallout game. I spent so much time wandering the Mojave Wasteland (as well as the actual Mojave), experiencing the post apocalyptic version of my home.

I enjoy all the weapon types… but my preferred playstyle is definitely Melee and Explosives (with the option of Energy Weapons), with high carry weight and max skill points every level. So, high STR and INT. I also run enough LCK to enjoy Miss Fortune, improve my crit chance, and have some fun at the casinos.

Wake up in Good Springs, haul *** straight to NV as a lvl 1 nobody avoiding Giant Radscorpions, and running past Cazadors and Deathclaws… get the INT implant, and then the real journey begins…

Aside from Miss Fortune, I don’t usually go for the other VATS perks. This lets me focus more on my melee and explosives build. I run 1 Charisma only which lets me spec more into STR, INT and LCK. The other stats are only high enough for whatever perks I need.

Speaking of perks… some of my favorite ones for combat are Black Widow, Super Slam, Unstoppable Force, Quick Draw, Demolitions x3, Finesse, Better Criticals, Piercing Strike, Purifier, Ninja, and Slayer.

Miss Fortune because… it wouldn’t feel like Vegas without some kind of guardian angel. Some… unseen force behind those lucky moments.

Implant GRX is epic, but… I might not want to make things too easy.

For carrying around loads of gear… Strong back, Burden to Bear, Pack Rat, and Long Haul.

Lvl 50 perk… probably Ain’t Like That Now for the increased attack speed.

Other perks, might be anything from Toughness, to Jury Rigging, maybe even Laser Commander since Energy Weapons can sync well with Melee builds.

My “base” , umm.. more like my stash, for most of the game is usually this one hollowed out rock that’s right there as soon as you fast travel to Hidden Valley. I’d keep everything in there. It’s a lot more efficient than, well, the other place, and all the loading screens.

Skills… the priority is whatever requirement my next perk needs, but aside from that, I usually initially focus on Lockpick and Science to get me into as many areas as possible.

And last… I only play on Hardcore mode. I understand it’s not for everybody but it just enhances the entire experience for me. I don’t usually use companions either since in Hardcore they can die, they blow my cover when I’m trying to be stealthy, and they limit my ability to use explosives effectively. My one charisma point doesn’t help either. I’m no “cult leader”…

Overall I just prefer to explore alone… and I explore everything I can. Every area, every building, looking for anything useful… but mostly for skill magazines and Sunset Sasparilla Star bottle caps.

Factions… well, don’t want to give too much away. Let’s just say I like all the options. There is no “wrong” choice…

In my opinion… FNV is one of the greatest games of all time. Maybe I feel that way because I relate to it so well, I know Vegas better than most, and I’ve always loved the desert. The Chihuahuan. The Sonoran. And the Mojave.
