A lone N.Y. State Trooper spotted Sweat who ran away. The Trooper gave chase on foot but
Sweat was getting away. Trooper fires two shots, both hit Sweat who was seriously shot up
and now in a hospital.
The officer shoots an unarmed escaped convicted cop killer in the back.
Was this a justified shooting?
Well............................YEAH it was!
I would have done the same.
What's your opinion.

This guy was a known murderer. Of course this was a justified use of force. If anything it showed remarkable discretion that the Trooper chased him at all. He would've been well within his authority to have shot him at the first disobedience. Known murderers who escape from prison don't get benefit of doubt.

On the down side, it means more time-filler crap on the news; cute kittens who play ping pong volley ball, and the biggest apple pie ever in Minnesota.

Stellar response! And legally spot on.
A convicted violent felon who escapes is a danger to the public at large
and NEEDS taken down by any means necessary.
I've been on manhunts, only a few, and lasting only hours or a day but they
were " shoot if necessary " and I would have.
I'm am quite content I never had to shoot anyone but kudos to the Sgt. that
did shoot the sucker.
Now Sweat can look forward to spending the rest of his life in a single cell
for 23 hours a day, no company, lousy food, one hour a day in a small yard
all alone for some air. That's it.
He'd be better off if he died but that's not my call.
Like most he will slowly go quite mad.
UNLESS. Unless the State works a deal giving him something like a bit better food,
perhaps 2 hours outside in the air, and such in exchange for his squealing
on those that took part in his escape.
He might just tell the authorities to go suck canal water though.
After all he's nuts and a murderer. He shot a deputy something like 22 times then
ran over the officer.

Know what you mean. I've been hearing nothing but the SCOTUS ruling and this escape\
for hours on end.

Is there any evidence this deputy was not also a T-800?

If a T-800 is police radio code talk I don't know that one.
Police radio codes are by no means standardized by any stretch.
We used 10 codes as in 10-20, 10-14, etc, eventually dropping the "10" altogether.
We would just say "what is your 20" meaning where are you?

Is this dave "dick mat sweat"?
Ha ha ha, the jokes are all totally unsuitable for children like RF.
Of course this is fine. Unless he is black and the trooper is white. Then it is a crime against humanity.

I saw no mention of race in the news, so the shot felon must be white.

He would have been told to stop or I'll shoot. it was his choice, I know what I would have done, stopped, simple.

Oh, I kind of don't think he was told anything.
I would almost bet officers were quietly told to shoot on sight.
I know how things like that work in the real world and frankly there would be no obligation
for the police to say anything after 3 weeks of hell in the woods.

Police are human as much as you and I are, most of them just wouldn't shoot someone for nothing, everyone picks on the cops, that is until they need them lol.

You've never seen Terminator, then.

It was a good shoot. The guy had already shown a willingness to kill a cop, so he posed an immediate threat to the next person he managed to get the drop on.

Of course they are human. I served 22.5 years before being disabled by a gobblin.
I'm just saying Sweat did not need to be warned and Sweat could not be shot for
"nothing" as his mere presence out of a jail cell was a danger to the public at large.

What's a gobblin ?.

What's a gobblin ?.

I misspelled: goblin: an ugly and sometimes evil creature that likes to cause trouble
Cop slang for a particularly nasty criminal.
Or a criminal that commits Boogery in the night season with intent to gawk.
(cop joke; means nothing really)
