Elizabeth Warren has reaffirmed on several occasions that she will not run for president. It looks as though Hilary Clinton is poised to take the Democratic party nomination. But many have suggested that if she's going to have a strong run against a Republican candidate, she must not run unopposed in her own party.

Were Hillary opposed within her own party, it would be a bruising fight. Her weaknesses (as confirmed by fellow Dems) would then be used by the Republican opponent, with the force of many Dems behind them..

Huh, so it's better if she's unopposed then, cos then the Republicans won't use her weaknesses to the same effectiveness? OP seems to be saying it would be better if she had opposition.

The Globe is urging Warren to run, in order that Hillary doesn't run unopposed and therefore has a better chance against her Republican opponent.

Fights get media attention. Media attention means exposure. Exposure means votes.

What Clinton needs most is a puff candidate running against her as a foil who, at the last minute, can be brought aboard at the convention in the VP slot. That's not Warren (might be Biden, putting him in the history books).
