Actually Mormonism teaches of a three-tiered heaven (and the Bible specifically mentions the third heaven) and one place referred to as Outer Darkness, which could be equated with Hell (without the fire and brimstone).

This thread calls DMT the soul molecule. But IMO the entheogen most worthy of the name was pre-1968 synthetic mescaline, stolen from the finest government laboratories. In '68 Congress made psychedelic substances illegal and the research labs shut down. What passed for mescaline after that was really low strength LSD.

The genuine article was total, utterly peaceful union with the cosmos all day long with never a bad trip or unpleasant flashback. Far too difficult and expensive for black market manufacture especially when the White Rabbit was flooding the country with cheap potent acid under the brand name of Orange Sunshine. Quite a trip but not the mellow religiosity of real mesc.

It was a fabulous time to be young (if one was draft exempt or had already served). And we knew it!

Technically as per the law, it is not illegal to consume DMT. It is illegal to possess, yet it's a chemical that already exists endogenously within the body and is probably responsible for mediating dream states and mystical experiences.
