ND.... I think you are missing the point.... the verses provided are in no way 100% convincing..... but they are reflective of the reality.... historian and theologians have documented this.... a Biblical commentary from the NAB:NetDoc said:Well, I am completely underwhelmed. Maybe I just put a premium on accuracy that others don't. How can you get FLAT AS A PANCAKE FROM THESE SCRIPTURES??? Please elucidate.
I am not a Hebrew scholar. I cannot go farther than the reliable dictionaries and commentaries that I cite above, which you have not specifically addressed.NetDoc said:Well, I am completely underwhelmed. ... scratching and clawing and frenetically clinging to the very inerrancy that you so often declare is nowhere proclaimed in the Bible. The Bible was written by men, primitive men, and reflects both their backwardness and their aspirations.NetDoc said:The issue is NOT what the Israelites believed or did not believe. They often did not believe God.
Assuming Jesus was really shown all the kingdoms of the world how would this be possible when the earth has about a 26 mile horizen. Looks like a strong indication the bible at that point thought the earth was flat.Mat 4:8 Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor. 9"All this I will give you," he said, "if you will bow down and worship me."
It clearly can't be flat if it has a mountain. Perhaps we should just call it bumpy ... somewhat reminiscent of the road travelled by some apologists.pah said:We've had this discussion before! Geez Bob...where've you been?! There's a hole at the North Pole and if you go through it there are people living inside the planet. That's obviously where the tree is.pah said:The Flat Earth BibleSeveral verses quoted and concepts developed.
The Flat-Earth Belief of Bible Writers More verses. I like Daniel 4:7-8, "I saw a tree of great height at the center of the world." How would a tree be growing in a center of a globe?
