Can Idiots Obtain Salvation?

!Fluffy!

Lacking Common Sense

I am sure that can; for a start, it seems obvious that 'innocents' are far more likely to earn salvation that the intelligent people who use their intelligence badly.

When you think about it, babies are born with no 'knowledge' - in that state of innocence, they are 'clean'. Maybe an argument can be made to show that the more we learn and experience, the more likely we are to put ourselves in a situation that would lesten our chances of salvation. The more you know, there is so much more opportunities to be tempted to do wrong.

Pride of intellect and arrogance is indeed a stumbling block. We are encouraged to approach as little children. To me it means in a simple and trusting way, knowing how much he cherishes us. I think it's an attitude of the heart more than anything.

Can a genuine idiot obtain salvation or enlightenment in your religion? Is there any level of intelligence below which it would be very unlikely for someone to obtain salvation or enlightenment? Do bimbo talk show hosts have any chance at heaven or nirvana?

LDS doctrine says that anyone can.

I do not believe idiots can save themselves, but they can be saved by others. Mysticism requires a sharp intellect, a strong will and a good heart: but most of all it needs imagination and the ability to visualize abstractions and conceptualize effortlessly. A high degree of rational intelligence is indispensible as you have to work not only with numbers, letters and symbols, but myth and psychology also amongst other things touched upon.

Idiots rule, and the morons are in the majority (unfortunately). They lack these things because most cannot even discern the necessity of salvation in the first place. A slave who thinks he is free is the most willing slave of all. Even thousands of years ago men knew gnosis, Enlightened insight, was for the few and not the many.

This might all sound very elitist, and it is. But so what? Salvation is a job, and someone, preferably the most capable, the specialists, should do it.

Harsh perhaps, but true. ;)
