Rom. 5:12 That is why, just as through one man sin entered into the world and death through sin, and so death spread to all men because they had all sinned—. 13 For sin was in the world before the Law, but sin is not charged against anyone when there is no law. 14 Nevertheless, death ruled as king from Adam down to Moses, even over those who had not sinned in the same way that Adam transgressed, who bears a resemblance to the one who was to come.

That inspired passage shows that the death that humans suffer is a direct consequence of Adam's sin. Obviously, that means that sin is not only an optional characteristic we adquire when we voluntarily sin, but is also a genetic defect that we have inherited since the fall. In this system of things every human has death as the end of his life.

1 Cor. 15:21 (...) death came through a man (...)

Rom. 6:7 For the one who has died has been acquitted from his sin. (...) 23 (...) the wages sin pays is death (...)

Since death is a reality for all humans in this time, we all are under the same genetical condition: sin. We cann't scape out of that by ourselves ... in other case, we could live forever as was the purpose of God when He created us. But we can be free of this damnation if we benefits of the prize that was payed by God himself: the blood of his own Son, Jesus.
