Atheists: If God existed would God do #1 or #2, as noted below?

    These are two separate questions.

    1. If God existed would God communicate directly to everyone?
    2. If God existed would God prove that He exists to everyone?

I am not asking if God could communicate directly to everyone or prove that He exists to everyone.
I am not asking if God should communicate directly to everyone or prove that He exists to everyone.

I am asking if God would God communicate directly to everyone or prove that He exists to everyone IF GOD EXISTED.

If you answer yes, please explain why you answered yes.
If you answer no, please explain why you answered no.

    Thanks, Trailblazer :)

I think your question is impossible to answer, it would just be speculation. I can say that no God has ever communicated with me and if I were a God the fair thing to do would be communicate to everyone equally and in a way they could understand.

I know I'm not an atheist but have thoughts on this.

God is an evangelist of himself. So he does let people know he exists. The very fact his words were recorded and preserved in the Bible is a testament to this fact.

Jesus prayed to God to glorify his name and Jehovah responded from heaven in the following passage:

"Father, glorify your name.” Then a voice came out of heaven: “I have glorified it and will glorify it again.”-John 12:28.

When did Jehovah glorify his name in the past? One prime example is when he brought the 10 plagues upon Egypt. Each plague was a blow to a different Egyptian god. And Jehovah told Moses the reason why he kept the hard-heartened, arrogant, evil Pharaoh who was committing genocide on the Hebrews alive was for this reason:

"But for this very reason I have kept you in existence: to show you my power and to have my name declared in all the earth."-Exodus 9:16.

Jehovah told Jesus he would glorify his name again? When will this be?

Jesus foretells of a coming great tribulation. During that time the earth's political rulers will turn upon and destroy all religion earth-wide. Afterwards Jehovah's witnesses will give a worldwide proclamation of the impending doom of this wicked world at Armageddon, and during that time supernatural signs and portents will be shown in heaven as the "sign of the son of man" at Jesus' glorious return and he will defend his people as the entire earth will be gathered together by satanic inspired expressions of demons to fight them. And Jehovah says repeatedly during that time that the nations will have to know who Jehovah is. Thus in a fear-inspiring way Jehovah will make his name known in all the earth and everyone will have to acknowledge Jehovah when he brings destruction upon the ungodly and disobedient masses of humankind:

"‘I will call for a sword against him on all my mountains,’ declares the Sovereign Lord Jehovah. ‘Every man’s sword will be against his own brother. I will bring my judgment against him with pestilence and bloodshed; and I will rain down a torrential downpour and hailstones and fire and sulfur on him and on his troops and on the many peoples with him. And I will certainly magnify myself and sanctify myself and make myself known before the eyes of many nations; and they will have to know that I am Jehovah.’"-Ezekiel 38:21-23.

Jehovah has already made himself known to his witnesses. He works miraculously in their lives today, answers their prayers, opens their hearts to understand truths about his word, and gives them wisdom and insight. He hides himself from the haughty and arrogant and wicked. It will be too late for these who do not repent and do not obey the good news about Jesus Christ and his incoming heavenly kingdom government when they will be forced to acknowledge his existence.

How could you speculate about it without any preconceived notions?

The question you appear to be asking is why does god rely on faith rather than evidence.
One of the things that convinces me that there is no god, is that he could communicate but chooses to not do.

Well I like things simple and forthright.

If God existed, we would immediately know that.

If I bought a car, would it be red or blue?

You can't definitively answer that question can you? There is nothing about the generic definition of "my car", even if I added a whole set of additional details (it'd be a Ford, petrol, 4-door saloon that I'd mostly use to go to work), you'd still not be able to answer the initial question. Either answer (or indeed a different one) would be equally likely.

The big question here is "if"

Lets assume a 1 creator god, not the nearly 4000 claimed 1 creator gods, just the 1. And that one just happens to be the one you believe created earth and people.

Said god indicated to have created those people to worship him. He killed (i won't use genocide or murder there (oops)) those who would not worship him so one must assume that he wants worship and only worship from every surviving human being (why not the millions of other species i wonder?).

Yes such a being would communicate in the only way he knows,. 'Look, those bodies are bodies of people who wouldn't worship me, your choice, worship me or die.' Also i believe killing all those who didn't worship him is as much proof as can be expected from any self respecting god.

I do not think it is impossible to answer. All we have to do is ask if God has proven that He exists to everyone or if God has communicated directly to everyone. If the answer is "no" that means that God would not do that if God existed. (Why God would not do that is another conversation.)
I do not know what you mean by - communicate to everyone equally and in a way they could understand.
Do you mean you think that God should communicate directly to everyone in a way that they could understand?
If so, why do you think that God should do that?

I agree that God has let everyone know that He exists as per the Bible but that is another topic. ;)

There are thousands of conceptions of God or gods, but these are just conceptions, what people imagine God or gods might be...
but there is only one true God that actually exists, unless you think that the Omnipotent God who created the universe needed helpers. ;)

I fail to see how or why such a god would be in need of followers, so I'm leaning towards "no".

If he didn't need helpers, then where do all the other gods come from?

There is not enough in this to say one way or the other.

From the mere assumption that there is a creator God, it is impossible to say anything else about its character or personality. It may be evil and want to torture us (maybe that is why the universe was created, after all).

Maybe a creator God doesn't even know we exist. or, if it does, it might consider us beneath consideration.

It may also be the case that belief in the existence of God has nothing to do with our well-being either now or in the future. In that case, there might well be no reason to communicate or prove its existence.

Only in the case where there is a good God that cares about us and where belief in that God is relevant for our future well-being would that God need to communicate with us. And, in that case, it would be obligated to prove itself to everyone.

At least, that's how I see it.

No. God would not communicate with anyone.

Communication is something done within social groups. If God is solitary (and your use of the singular God-with-a-capital-G suggests he would be), then he would have no more reason to be interested in communication than an octopus would.

You're talking about a being that's completely alien to us and that isn't socialized at all. There would be absolutely no reason to expect that such a being would be interested in - or be capable of - communicating with us, whether with all of humanity or indirectly through prophets/"messengers"/etc.

No, but evidence for God would be apparent, roughly in proportion to how important God is to the universe.

... kinda like the Moon: the Moon isn't interested in "proving" that it exists, but its effects on us and the things around us also provide evidence for its existence.

A God that can't be empirically demonstrated to be real to the same extent that the Moon can is a God that's less relevant to our observable universe than the Moon is.

If God loves us as many people claim, then I would expect God would communicate with us, yes.

The biblical chap is portrayed as a fragile, jealous lunatic. So I would think, yes.

    Inference from nature, for one.

Take Caribbean reef squid: they have complex communication, but researchers can't figure out if their communication qualifies as "language" because it's so alien and undecipherable to us that they can't figure out if it has syntax.

Taken at face value, a solitary god would be a being that has orders of magnitude more literally alien to us than a squid would be, and who lacks the socialization of those squids that gave rise to the need for capacity for communication.
