I wouldn't call myself a Jedi, but I do love Star Wars.

I'm not, but I like Star Wars (bet ya never heard that before). How does a religion based on a movie come about? Not that there's any better reason to start a religion, but I am curious.

Yes, there is, JediDaye, who just joined. Also, I believe there is one other who is not an active poster. There'll be another if I ever convince my boyfriend to join RF....

I believe we should try to incorporate the Jedi qualities in our lives, but since i think Jedi is an Arabic term for some sort of warrior, i would not say i am a warrior. and my only sword is made of oak.

well, if you've ever heard of woodism, thats based on the director ed wood. And my religion isn't really based on the movies, but on the morals of the movies

I am as close to being a Jedi as you can get I suppose. I am Taoist, a martial artist of 10 years, and I work with chi constantly. Sadly, I believe calling yourself a Jedi automatically makes people think your are not serious. And since the Jedi were based off of Taoism and Buddhism, I have no problem calling myself Taoist. Or a Vigil for that matter (which is quite similar as well.)

    Peace,

The jedi are also in line with the mystical teachings of islam, which is quite similar to taoism and buddhism. unfortunately these teachings are rejected by most sunni and shia today.

What is Islams similarity to the Force? Could Allah be equated with the Force? How so when Allah has gender, and anthropomorphizations? The force is Chi, Tao. What is it within Islam?

Think of it as a religion based on the philosophy of one man instead of a movie, then you'll find that sort of thing isn't uncommon at all.

    Peace,
Allah has no gender, it is the totality of everything. We are all like thoughts in the "mind" of Allah. Allah is not humanlike whatsoever. Allah is equivalent to "the great integrity" or the force. The quran tells us that there were 124,000 prophets, though it does not list them all. These prophets were sent to all the "tribes" and taught the same message. different groups have grasped different parts of the message and clinged to them more. many groups have perverted the message and have given Allah(the God) human like qualities or even said he is human. Islam teaches us to "seek religious/scientific knowledge(ilm), even to China". The original islamic teachings have nothing to do with a God that is humanlike, though some muslims today have perverted it into this. References like "sitting at the right hand of God" are purely symbolic.
La ilaha il Allah There is no God, only Allah.
Someone had a good post a few months ago about this, i cannot remember what section it was in though. i will try to find it since he said it better than i.
