Apple cancels Project Titan electric car

A couple of thousand employees was hardly a serious effort to get into the car business. That is an incredible expensive venture and they are years behind in almost all aspects of it. I have my doubts about even Tesla making it long term now that the major automotive companies are seriously entering the field.

This will be good for my Apple stock.
Maybe yes maybe no. The amount that they invested was a pittance for such a huge company. They were trying to see if they could get into the electric car business on the cheap. The answer was "NOOOOO!"

A pittance here....a pittance there....before
you know it each of those billions could
add up to real money.
If Apple actually built a factory, & did everything
necessary to put products on the market, the
investment would be far greater than mere
development. So I'm looking at future savings
by staying away from an increasingly competitive
field that's outside of Apple's focus & expertise.

BTW, I sometimes type "know" for "no".
And "too" for "to". Brains....troublesome things
they are. And so much maintenance needed!

Apple is ending its decade long Project Titan electric car effort. It has spent hundreds of millions of dollars on this.

Apple's 'Project Titan' electric car has been cancelled
It's refreshing to see an autonomous carmaker be honest about the extreme challenges of doing autonomous vehicles properly instead of pushing out a half-baked beta version as production and then do nothing as it kills people.

Nobody wants to buy EV garbage no matter what lipstick is put on the pig.

I am not sure about that. If chargers were as common as gas stations and the miles per charge > 500 or so, I think many people would buy them. They are very pricey too, so that would have to change as well.

You're wrong. EVs are great when used
bought without the illusion that they
can take long trips thru flyover country
in the winter. There is no perfect car
for every task.
My daughter's Hyundai Ioniq has been
wonderful for commuting around NJ &
NY. Her mistake was putting herself in
the position of having that commute.

I don't know how many people have 20 minutes to kill every time they need to charge the piece of garbage.

It takes less time to charge the car
than to fill a gas tank if one uses
it for commuting, & has a home
charger.
But for some, a 20 minute break
is OK. It's just not for me.

Your approach appears to be....
"How can I justify hatred of EVs?"
It should be....
"Where & for whom are they useful?"
