Could they? I don't think you can be both Senator/House Representative and be part of the White House staff though I might be wrong about that. It's better to keep them both in Congress anyway. Both have been doing a fairly good job.

I couple such as Merrick Garland are obviously outstanding. He should have been on SCOTUS, but this is a great job where he can root out the corruption and malfeasance of the past 4 years with bipartisan support.

Garland replacing Barr has to be one of the finest examples of poetic justice.

Sanders has a good record on bipartisanship. He was one of the architect of the bonified financial help people have or will receive very soon. That was no small piece of legislation to pass in the GOP dominated Senate which was hostile to such spendings.

Sanders is the new chair of the Budget Committee. Not sure if anything's changed for AOC's roles.
