It seems to resonate more with suburban teenage boys than with people who live in actual crime-ridden urban slums.

The music of rebellion and anger has always been appealing to young people, and all the posing and macho posturing of rap is a big part of its appeal to hormonal adolescents, be they in Compton, Sarajevo or Osaka.
