What were some pop culture things your parents (tried) to bar you from as nippers?
And what were some instances of you helping bypass those barriers, even unknowingly, for your friends growing up?
I have two cousins who are sisters, who’s parents were a lot less strict in their media consumption. And man, I must have watched all sorts of movies and TV shows with them that would have horrified my mother lol
Once had my super religious cousin stay over. I think she lived in America at the time, I can’t remember. Anyway I was about half way through a (borrowed) Harry Potter book and she asked if she could read it. We were like 10 or 11. So of course I just gave it to her. I mean we literally read in school, why wouldn’t I?
Turns out she was banned from it and her mother was not impressed.
I remember taking advantage of my father’s naivety with video games. He always dismissed all games as for kids. So when we used to go to BlockBuster (god remember them?) I’d always get like GTA or Driver or what have you. Ahh memories.
