I'll go with "not relevant". Well, the Old Testament is pretty cool but I don't see it in a Christian context. I have a mild interest in Jewish interpretations.

People expect me to throw it all out from spite. But those are the people who think that Satanism is a biblical religion.

The bible has some useful things to say.

Mostly a pack of lies, fictions, tribalism, delusion and nastiness. But it has certain uses. I tend to view Yahweh as a tribal deity who has gotten out of hand and is one of Satan's opponents in that Satan opposes whoever/whatever seeks to refuse humanity's right to self-determination.

I agree in one context, but overall I disagree quite heartily. In the first context, The bible itself, ie what is actually written therein, has very little effect on my own view of the world, very little if any measurable effect on my life.

Yet, in a larger context, our entire society..it's mores, it's laws, it's governmental structure and policy, it's 'nomos' comprising of behavioural expectations, relationship expectations, power structures and personal relationships, et al is VERY MUCH based in a judeoabrahamic style set that would not be what it is without 'the good book'

In another light, christianity does exactly what constantine and company purposed it to do at nicea 2, and continues to do it. It unites people, causes people to embrace a slave mentality, and makes them docile. It does this by enshrining things such as egalitarianism and faith as virtuous. this allows for an easily maneuvered populace, that always 'makes greatest' something outside of them and theirs, whether it be god or country.

Egalitarianism has nothing to do with the Abrahamic religions as they are traditionally interpreted. They are hierarchical and divisive. They have fought against efforts to introduce more democratic systems of governing since the beginning and have always been the historical opponents of drastic social change in favor of empowering the disenfranchised.

Truly, truly, I say to you, a servant is not greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him.

    Genesis 1:27 ESV

So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.

    Galatians 3:26-29 ESV

For in Christ Jesus you are all sons of God, through faith. For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. And if you are Christ's, then you are Abraham's offspring, heirs according to promise.

    Mark 12:31 ESV

The second is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.”

    Colossians 1:16-17 ESV

For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together.

    Leviticus 19:33-34 ESV

“When a stranger sojourns with you in your land, you shall not do him wrong. You shall treat the stranger who sojourns with you as the native among you, and you shall love him as yourself, for you were strangers in the land of Egypt: I am the Lord your God.

    Psalm 14:1-3 ESV

To the choirmaster. Of David. The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt, they do abominable deeds, there is none who does good. The Lord looks down from heaven on the children of man, to see if there are any who understand, who seek after God. They have all turned aside; together they have become corrupt; there is none who does good, not even one.

    Ephesians 5:25 ESV

Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her,

    John 5:36-38 ESV

But the testimony that I have is greater than that of John. For the works that the Father has given me to accomplish, the very works that I am doing, bear witness about me that the Father has sent me. And the Father who sent me has himself borne witness about me. His voice you have never heard, his form you have never seen, and you do not have his word abiding in you, for you do not believe the one whom he has sent.

    John 3:16-17 ESV

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.

    John 6:12-19 ESV

And when they had eaten their fill, he told his disciples, “Gather up the leftover fragments, that nothing may be lost.” So they gathered them up and filled twelve baskets with fragments from the five barley loaves left by those who had eaten. When the people saw the sign that he had done, they said, “This is indeed the Prophet who is to come into the world!” Perceiving then that they were about to come and take him by force to make him king, Jesus withdrew again to the mountain by himself. When evening came, his disciples went down to the sea,

    Luke 6:27-31 ESV
“But I say to you who hear, Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who abuse you. To one who strikes you on the cheek, offer the other also, and from one who takes away your cloak do not withhold your tunic either. Give to everyone who begs from you, and from one who takes away your goods do not demand them back. And as you wish that others would do to you, do so to them.

    Matthew 7:12 ESV

“So whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.

    Acts 4:32 ESV

Now how many verses are there espousing bigotry and divisiveness? Which viewpoints have been followed more by mainstream Christianity - hatred and inequality, or striving for equal and democratic rights?

Well that's a different subject. People can draw support for pretty much anything from this or that ambiguously worded passage..I'm fairly sure it was designed that way.

Personally, I think its quite relevant today. I consider it a wholly Occult work. Some get it, some don't.

So, yeah, I have been a member of the CoS for three years now. (Well, three years in November.) i was raised Catholic! LOL. parochial school up until 9th grade. But I finally escaped the oppressive and murderous Institution that is the RCC, and have now seen the Real Light. And also have come to know who really Controls this world we live in.

I consider myself a Satanist and a Recovering Catholic. As far as my views on the bible, and what most Satanists think of it? Well, from what I have seen most of us--inlcuidng me--feel the Christian Bible is just another collection of Mythology. No different really than Greek Mythology. Yahweh no more real than Zeus. Hebrew Mythology! LOL. Written over the period of many many decades by dozens of authors, and never even really meant to be compiled into a single cohesive work. (it's not very cohesive, anyway--rank with contradictions, right?)

We often laugh at the mind-numbing amount of mass murder and violence in the OT. Most of it perpetrated by Yahweh. We consider Yahweh to be for the most part one of the most loathsome characters in all of fiction. A petty, jealous, tyrannical Bully. And proud of it.

We think that Jesus, if he lived at all, was merely a fully mortal man. Oh, a pretty good moral teacher and philosopher, but no more so than a Ghandi or a Lao Tzu or a Siddartha Guatsama. And of course we don't believe in the bodily Resurrection. Or the Virgin Birth. Most religions have those things. I should say, most Mythologies. Same deal. I always like the idea that Jesus was the ******* son of the Roman soldier named Pantera, who seduced Mary. There is some good evidence for this, BTW.

    Thanks,

    Hail.
