Hello Metis,
Here's hoping that you have a blessed and meaningful Sunday.
I may oversimplify things, but here is how I look at it taking an example from the bible in Philippians
1: 15 Some indeed preach Christ even of envy and strife; and some also of good will 16 The one preach Christ of...
For example, if you had faith (or reassured hope) that your loved one will visit you but hasn't bought a plane ticket to do so, faith is fine but it's not based on evidence.
If you had faith that your loved one will visit you and she showed you a copy of her plane ticket, you no longer need...
o_O
Can you explain that? If they have evidence they don't need faith? If they know God, they don't need faith?
The whole reason faith exists is because of the evidence... the knowing.
You quoted the words just now.
Now faith is the assurance of what we hope for and the certainty of what we do...
Act 5:41-42 (ESVST) 41Then they left the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer dishonor for the name. 42And every day, in the temple and from house to house, they did not cease teaching and preaching that the Christ is Jesus. (Hmm, no mention of paradise...
Thank you for those verses....but the one thing missing from all of them is the kingdom. The gospel (good news) is about Christ and his role as king of God's kingdom......but what is the kingdom itself? Do you see anything in those verses that define the kingdom?
When Jesus taught us to pray...
So we both agree that the Apostles taught/preached what Jesus taught them to teach/preach, correct? And you claim Jesus told them to teach/preach the "Good News of the Kingdom", correct?
This is what I believe the "Good News" to be:
Acts 5:41-42 (ESVST) 41 Then they left the presence of the...

 The Apostle Paul wrote: "Philippians 1:15 Some indeed preach Christ even of envy and strife; and some also of good will:
16 The one preach Christ of contention, not sincerely, supposing to add affliction to my bonds:
17 But the other of love, knowing that I am set for the defence...

2 Kings 23:12-14
12 He pulled down the altars the kings of Judah had erected on the roof near the upper room of Ahaz, and the altars Manasseh had built in the two courts of the temple of the LORD. He removed them from there, smashed them to...
Philippians1:15 It is true that some preach Christ out of envy and rivalry, but others out of goodwill. 16 The latter do so in love, knowing that I am put here for the defense of the gospel. 17 The former preach Christ out of selfish ambition, not sincerely, supposing that they can stir up...
You say this as if it's a BAD thing. Diversity is GREAT. It makes life interesting and fun!
Paul had a wonderful attitude about SOME diversity.
Philippians1:15 It is true that some preach Christ out of envy and rivalry, but others out of goodwill. 16 The latter do so in love, knowing that I...
Hey Scuba Pete,
If I correctly understand what you are saying, I believe what you have proclaimed is false in the light of all of Scripture. The message of the cross is foolishness for those who are perishing. It is an offense to the carnal mind and unregenerate. The unveliever is at war with...

Here is Paul on relativism:

Paul seemed to be pleased:
