I am not "upset". I couldn't care less what you think or how you feel about God. I am simply pointing out the obvious irrationality I am seeing in the proclaimed decision by people that are constantly also proclaiming their love for rationality.
Again, I don't care what you think or hw you feel...
The evidence is piling up that when our brains "die", some form of heightened cognition seems to be occurring. We are now able to revive "dead" people after longer and longer time periods, and instead of the expected quickly diminishing of cognitive activity that our understanding of biology...
So far, all I see is a lot of whining. What I don't see is anyone offering a reasonable, logical, rebuttal.
Just read the responses being posted on that other thread by atheists explaining why they are atheist and you will see for yourself that nearly every single one of them is whining about...
I don't know, but I suspect we are more than just a temporary biological body with a brain. I suspect that our cognition is a reflection of some kind of energy form(s) that we are not yet capable of identifying or quantifying. I think there is a lot more going on here than we realize. So I...
It's not my doing that you all can't tolerate any kind of criticism. And I don't criticize anyone out of "hate". I do it as a favor to anyone wise enough to listen and consider. But people's egos get their old knees a-jerkin' and the opportunity being offered usually ends up being completely...
I try to avoid believing things that I can't know to be so.
I provisionally accept that the universe had a beginning. But does that mean existence had a beginning? From our perspective, it does, because the universe is all we know to exist. But we also know that our perspective is limited to...
Or it all demands a supernatural cause in that the cause of natural existence would by definition have to be supernatural. So to my mind, the whole natural/supernatural debate becomes semantic.
Well, since existence can't logically make itself happen, something else must have. And since that...
The evidence Is that existence as we know it had a beginning. And no, that is not logically possible, unless perhaps the universe is the expression of some illogical omnipotent Creator. :)
It's also illogical to presume that a universe in constant change is an expression of perpetuity...
Everything science thinks it knows has been derived from experience of the universe and within the universe. And so cannot logically be presumed to apply to whatever is responsible, beyond, apart from, or prior to the universe.
The most important thing to keep in mind is that your dad's state of mind and behavior is not your fault. No matter what he says. He is an adult, and he is responsible for maintaining his own mental health. And for NOT dumping his emotional baggage on you or on anyone else.
It's a hard thing...
Theism is the assertion of the proposition. Who believes what is theology and religion.
That wasn't theism. That was your own personal theology. Then you threw theism as a proposition out with your personal theological bath water because you didn't like the dirty bath water and you recognize...
Hence, the title of this thread ... and people not understanding the difference between theism: the proposed existence of God, and the many various religious depictions and conceptions of this proposed God. Thus, they reject the former along with some particular version of the latter never...
I don't hate atheists at all. I see them as the mirror image of religious zealots without their even realizing it. Both irrationally laying claim to what they can't know, because their own identity has become entwined with this pretense.
