For the purposes of this exercise, the 'atheist' title fits me best so I'll answer accordingly.
I probably wouldn't lead a group of resisters but I would certainly join them.
I would also provide a 'safety zone' for the believers.
& yes, i would say they have the right to practice their...
Let me throw an idea your way that might help you feel less confused about this whole "what's my religion?" thing..
There's nothing wrong with being spiritual and not religious. Many people on here, I've seen, embrace the idea of creating your own "religion". I wouldn't say to go so far as...
I can't comprehend how that is a human....
I usually don't care what people do to their own bodies, but if I saw that mass coming towards me making human-like noises, I would likely wet myself.
Yep, really.
I obviously wouldn't do this - but I can understand why Christians would. Y'know....'cause they're told to.
Personally - if I had a god, it wouldn't be one who expected me to forsake my family in order to be closer to him/her. That just doesn't sit well with me.
Because they're acting as if it was an accident oooorrr......it offends you?
Personally I think it's blatant disregard for the non-religious people of America that those two words are still in the pledge.
Very interesting, applewuud. Thank you so much for your reply.
I think I will definitely drag my mom to that church to visit. I hope it's similar to yours. & I will check out that "Real Time with Bill Maher" show that you mentioned.
It's probably my upbringing still having an effect on me, but I think that someone's beliefs shouldn't need to be backed by evidence in order for someone who cares about the person to respect them. I don't agree with them, and I still think they're silly - but they're his personal beliefs and if...
Oh, I definitely did. There were at least three different times during the conversation when I thought laughter was going to burst out of me without my permitting it. >_>
However, I'm trying to take this seriously in respect for his beliefs. At least until he starts to harass me about it....
Apparently an undead savior, at that.
Here's what's going on - and I'll make this short rather than long and unenjoyable to read.
I "came out" to my father as Non-Christian yesterday. In a letter, of sorts. I may have mentioned something about being non-religious and taken a firm...
I pretty much agree with what's been said. ^
In my experience, half the people who use "big words" don't know how to properly use them. (Personally, I prefer the proper use of grammar over a broad vocabulary.) The other half are people who try much too hard to seem intelligent and forget that...
My initial understanding was that Antiochian was wanting to be have his membership removed, instead of sending the letters for closure regardless of the outcome. I could see this becoming a fight of sorts with the church if he was adamant about having his name removed.

Thank you very much for your replies, and the informative links.
I may still attend a UU service, as your information has definitely not squashed my curiosity. I might even convince my mother to attend with me and see what she thinks. Her beliefs seem almost identical to the principles listed...
Yes, it does. Thanks for clarifying. :)
You're probably right about that.
& the "once baptized you're a Christian for life" thing sounds awfully similar to the "once saved, always saved" thing that I've heard a lot from the Christians that I know. I've literally heard my closest Christian...
