Ive read before that tuskless elephants are evolving to counter ivory poachers. Pretty cool evolution in action.

I think it’s a crying shame. But nature will always respond. It might not be the fastest response but it will inevitably be shaped by whatever environment throws at it. That includes human intervention/actions.
Hopefully this will help reduce the number of elephants needlessly killed.

According to this article, more elephants are being born tuskless as a response to ivory poaching,

Ivory poaching has led to evolution of tuskless elephants, study finds | Wildlife | The Guardian

Thoughts?
But its STILL AN ELEPHANT. God wins! Or something like that, I think... I don't know. I'm just parroting some stuff I heard from some people who said some things.

(Hoping a few hardline creationist evolution-deniers stumble in here and see that I am on their side... and that I am for to utilize genius argumentationisms to boot).

I didn't intend this thread to be a creation/evolution debate. I have 0 interest in that. I was just sharing the article because I thought others may find it interesting.

If there were intelligent design, humans would
be designed to not force tuskless evolution.
Proper design and correct implementation of a good design are 100% the same thing?:D:rolleyes:o_O;) I'll have to tell a host of engineer that they are utterly wrong in their views.

Twilight Hue

Twilight, not bright nor dark, good nor bad.
Makes sense that those not being hunted survive to create offspring more than the ones that are hunted.
A random mutation that happen to promote survival of the species.
It's a great example of evolution at work.

You beat me to the punch. And it reminded me of my hand carved ivory chess set. I did not buy it. It was my father's. He did buy it, but it was long before most people knew the evils of ivory. poaching. He got in in Japan at the time of the Korean War. I doubt if I can even sell it legally, though my ownership is legal. I can only pass it down the line or donate it eventually.

EDIT: It does not look as if I could sell it. Even though it has been in the family for about 70 years I doubt if there is any certification of its import. It was part of his personal gear when he came back from Korea.
