Frank, Paul is talking about his fellow “elect”....these are the “chosen ones” who will go to heaven in rulership positions. These ones will be “kings and priests” and will rule with Christ for 1,000 years. (Revelation 20:6) Kings need subjects and priests need sinners for whom to perform their priestly duties......The Christian scriptures that talk of life in heaven are written by, and for, those of Christ’s elect....they are not for those who will be their subjects on earth. (Revelation 21:1-4)
That is not what Ecclesiastes 12:7 says at all. When a human dies, his body returns to the dust, but the spirit (the breath of life, not to be confused with the soul) returns to God because only God can recreate a person and restore the breath of life.
“Then the dust returns to the earth, just as it was, and the spirit* returns to the true God who gave it.“
You must read scripture with understanding, not with indoctrination.
“So we are always of good courage and know that while we have our home in the body, we are absent from the Lord, 7 for we are walking by faith, not by sight. 8 But we are of good courage and would prefer to be absent from the body and to make our home with the Lord. 9 So whether at home with him or absent from him, we make it our aim to be acceptable to him.”
When you understand that Paul was addressing his fellow rulers, he was simply saying that whilst they walked about in the flesh, they could not go to heaven. God has to give them spiritual bodies in order to exist in the spirit realm. They were anointed for life in heaven, giving them a strong desire to be with Jesus there. They had no idea of how long it would be until that happened. Paul said that they would all sleep in death until Christ’s return. Then they would be resurrected with spiritual bodies, not bodies of flesh.
Not sure how that correlates to 2 Corinthians 12:2-4?
It doesn’t mean that we will all go heaven. That was never God’s original purpose. He put us here on earth.
