Do you deserve blessings?

I am trying to be Latter-day Saint but I've got to admit I have it much easier than most of the people in the world, so I've got to question whether I deserve blessings or not.

I'm a believer and I try to keep the commandments, but other people have it much harder than me and it just seems they should get the blessings instead.

I think of it this way; and, this helps me personally. I dont see heirarchy in life. So, I know someone is much more poor than I am. I am much more poor than the person beside me. So we are all in the middle one way or another.

In that light, we all deserve blessings. Maybe wishing blessings for others will reflect and you will receive blessings in return; so, both benefit. Both of you regardless your situation deserve blessings because poverty and illness etc are experienced by all people.

Also, you can think of it from gods perspective. If he feels you are worth his blessings (whish Im suret thats why he saved you), maybe get to understand his view so you can accept that you deserve it just as he says you do.

As for latter-day-saints view, Im not sure. Some denimnations emphasis how they arent worthy and need salvation while others see themselves worthy because they received a gift they accepted with gods grace.

Maybe find ways to help those who have less than you? I know a lot of christians who see themselves worthy in the light of what they -are able-to do for others even when they arent in the same shoes (empathy).

I thought the thinking in Christianity was that no one deserved "blessings". God gives those according to his own plan. Does LDS have a different view of this?

I don't know the LDS perspective... I haven't been LDS for 10 years.

OIC Priest blessings etc?

Our challenges vary, but there are times in each of our lives when we may feel the need for a blessing from God. These blessings can come through worthy husbands, fathers, and other holders of the Melchizedek Priesthood. An elderly woman in frail health who was frequently lonely asked a young priesthood holder for a blessing from time to time to strengthen and comfort her and help her understand the mission God had for her in her later years. Another sister, the only Church member among the faculty at her school, felt a need for help as she prepared for a meeting to discuss issues over which the faculty bitterly disagreed. She wanted to present her ideas forthrightly but without rancor. She sought a blessing from her home teacher that she might have the Spirit with her in the meeting. A mother sought a blessing from her husband at the beginning of each school year, at the same time as he gave priesthood blessings to their children. She sought direction and assistance in the new challenges and responsibilities that would come as she worked with the children.

It's like having someone say a prayer over you....

I or my wife had a group of Catholic folks come over to our house, hold a kind of prayer meeting and then perform a little blessing ritual in each room of the house.

Boy...a lot of people talking about stuff.
I like Earth's Stuff...I think it's a blessing in it's own case.
But...search for your own `blessings`, I've got my own !
Life's Stuff is all I need, and all the blessings needed.

I WAS LDS, but did not agree with their Deep Doctrine, and Temple Doctrine, so I left. Mormon members are the sweetest and most loving people I have ever known.

No, of course you do not deserve blessings, so don't try to be entitled. Your blessings come out of the goodness and love of God and the Atonement of Jesus Christ.

Even if you don't understand it, thank "Heavenly Father", and pass those blessings on to others after the manner of Jesus' admonishments.

Go your way in peace.

There is an unlimited supply of blessings that God is just dying to pour down upon us if we but ask for them!! He loves all of His children so, so much and He wants you to feel it. Ask for a priesthood blessing ASAP but first pray to Heavenly Father asking if you should receive blessings and if He loves you. Then get your blessing and I promise the answer will be yes you should and you will have an overwhelming spirit of love fill you. Additionally think of questions for General Conference and listen this weekend with those questions in mind. I promise that He loves you more than anything and it doesn't matter what your challenges are in comparison to anyone else because all that matters to Him, is that it matters to YOU. You are His child. He Loves You. I GUARANTEE.

Yes, Yes, YES! Everyone deserves blessings!! God wants to pour blessings upon each one of us. Other Christian faiths may have that perspective, but in the Latter-Day Saints we believe that "men are that they might have joy." (2 Nephi 2:25) God loves us, for we are His children. Natural consequences will happen, yes. It is not divine intervention with every little thing, obviously. Most importantly, God doesn't want to destroy your agency - pouring blessings down when you haven't asked. So you've gotta ask! Pray! "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and ye shall find; knock, the door will be opened to you;" (Matthew 7:7)
