What examples are there of defending your hill watching others attack another hill (thinking yours)

I'm standing on a hill of my beliefs defending it and in the distance see an opposing army rush to attack it
They run toward the hill... but it's not mine... it's a different hill. They rush up noisily with shouts and claims and pass by my hill entirely. They plant a victory flag and sing a victory song doing a victory dance.

Seems they have attacked caricature hill.

They won, that's all that mattered to them. And you get to continue on unscathed.

Seems to me an example of how faith is yours, and yours alone. The specificity of what you believe is not mirrored by what anyone else believes. You may feel you have "comrades in arms", but in reality, you don't. You will agree on some things, and you will give one another a nod about some topics... indeed... you are agreeing to meet one another ON CARICATURE HILL.

Is that like, Solsbury Hill?

I have no need to defend my hill. My beliefs don't require me to. My hill is open to anyone.

All of my `hills` on my beach,
surrender to the surf every day.
Another tide starts a new one,
we'll share it sometime in the future.
You're all welcome to add to it if you wish,
or start another one of your own.
The seashells don't mind at all, nor the crabs.
There all there to start anew, from the beginning.
