Spirit of deception

Satan isn't a deceiver. You join satan willingly, and the deception happens after you open yourself, to it. What happens, is things lead up to joining satan, that aren't overtly satanic, that is the deception. No ceremony occurs without acceptance, and the actual joining to satan, is the only one that finalizes the deal.
The other ceremonies and magic occurences are not a joining to satan, because deception means a non willing sinful act.
So, there is deception, however it isn't direct.

can faith in God defend against Satan's deceptions?
Faith in Jesus Christ who has all authority over demons.

Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. James 4:7

Believers in Jesus Christ (John 3:16; Ephesians 2:8–9) have God’s Spirit living within them. Galatians 2:20 says, “I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me.” The same power that created the universe resides within us. As a result, Satan has no true power over believers in Christ. He cannot force us to sin, he cannot possess us, and he knows that we will ultimately have the victory over him.
Does a believer have authority over Satan?

As a spiritual being who has been around much longer than any human being satan has had the opportunity to study humanity and knows all the precise ways to deceive each person at their point of vulnerability.
With the odds stacked so greatly in the devil's favor how does god expect us to not get snared?

The apostle Paul mentioned something that gives us a clue....he said that we should forgive one another...."In fact, whatever I have forgiven (if I have forgiven anything) has been for your sake in Christ’s sight, 11 so that we may not be overreached by Satan, for we are not ignorant of his designs." (2 Corinthians 2:10-11) Lack of forgiveness leads to feelings that can be exploited by the devil.

Paul exhorts Christians to stand firm against Satan’s "machinations" (crafty acts). (Ephesians 6:11) Note Paul’s use of the plural. Wicked spirits don't just use one type, but a variety of cunning schemes—and for good reason. In the course of time, some believers who have stood firm against one kind of trial have given in when faced with another. Hence, the Devil and the demons closely observe the behavior of each one of us to detect our weakest spot. Then they exploit any spiritual weakness we may have. Thankfully, though, we can recognize many of the Devil’s methods, for they are revealed in the Bible.

"If God is for us, who is against us?" (Romans 8:31) If we have the most powerful force in the Universe on our side, then we are more than a match for the devil and his minions, provided of course, that we are obedient to the Christ in all things.

How and in what form could satan deceive so many?
Satan exists only within our souls; thus it made up Christianity (John, Paul, and Simon) to contradict Christ (Synoptic Gospels), and then made up Islam to contradict that...

Both are accusing (satan), and slandering (devil) the nature of Christ, thus deceiving the whole world.

In my opinion. :innocent:

2 Samuel 24: 1-3; Again the anger of the LORD burned against Israel, and he incited David against them, saying, "Go and take a census of Israel and Judah." 2So the king said to Joab and the army commanders with him, "Go throughout the tribes of Israel from Dan to Beersheba and enroll the fighting men, so that I may know how many there are."

But Joab replied to the king, "May the LORD your God multiply the troops a hundred times over, and may the eyes of my LORD the king see it. But why does my LORD the king want to do such a thing?

1st Chronicles 21: 1-3; Satan rose up against Israel and incited David to take a census of Israel. 2 So David said to Joab and the commanders of the troops, “Go and count the Israelites from Beersheba to Dan. Then report back to me so that I may know how many there are.”

3 But Joab replied, “May the Lord multiply his troops a hundred times over. My lord the king, are they not all my lord’s subjects? Why does my lord want to do this? Why should he bring guilt on Israel?”

By calling on the Savior Jesus Christ who is greater than satan and becoming a child of God.

You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. 1 John 4:4

Are you searching for ways to make God out to be a deceiver? This incident, written in Hebrew may not translate well into English? Both accounts relay the same incident. Whatever got into David, he deeply regretted his actions. But it is unclear as to why this particular census was viewed as a serious sin in the first place.

In any case, David confessed and repented saying: “I have sinned very much in what I have done.” (2 Samuel 24:10) He was given a choice of punishments, equally devastating in their outcomes. It says in the parallel account it says that it was Satan who “rose up against Israel and incited David to take a census of Israel” (1 Chronicles 21:1) Even Joab, who at times put his own passions and ambitions ahead of what was right, recognized the badness of David’s census. We read: “The king’s word had been detestable to Joab.” (1 Chronicles 21:6)

Today we are far removed from the facts, but if David’s contemporaries knew that this act was absolutely wrong, there must have been a basis for their conclusion. David made some very bad decisions in his life, but he was always repentant....and God forgives in a large way.

Could it be that Satan, the Son of God is an obedient servant of God?

When he wanted to put Job to the test [Twice] God gave him permission to do so, but set a limit as to how far his son could go, and Satan did not dare step over the line that his father had drawn in the sand.

Does Satan do the dirty work for his Father?

1 Kings 22: 19-22; Micaiah the prophet says to King Ahab; "Now listen to what the Lord says! "I saw the Lord sitting on his throne in heaven, with all his angels standing beside him. [Satan is one of the angels of God.]
The Lord asked, ‘Who will deceive Ahab so that he will go and be killed at Ramoth?’ Some of the angels said one thing, and others said something else, 21 until a spirit stepped forward, approached the Lord, and said, ‘I will deceive him.’ 22 ‘How?’ the Lord asked. The spirit replied, ‘I will go and make all of Ahab's prophets tell lies.’ The Lord said, ‘Go and deceive him. You will succeed.’”

Who was that spiritual being?
