The last ten years of music are predicable, formulaic, and not very creative or interesting in the musical or lyrical department.
Eh, I think for the most part '00s popular music is much worse than '10s.
I mean, this decade we had that indie boom in the early part of the decade, which produced plenty of interesting stuff like Gotye and The Decemberists - plus well-written alternative rap by artists like Lupe Fiasco and (before he started getting lazy) Kendrick Lamar. I'm not fond of most of the '80s-style synthpop revival of the mid-part of the decade, the sound can be a bit blaring and obnoxious honestly, but it definitely had creativity and the more New Wave-influenced end like Paramore's recent albums have been fun. It's really just over the last two years, with the rise of trap and muddy dirge-like pop music, that things have gotten '00s level bad again. Speaking of, Lorde partly started that trend and I find her music really dreary, so seconding the above post but seriously.
Meanwhile, '00s popular music: Insert Generic Boy Band or R&B Singer Here, snotty 25 year olds singing about how they're just a kid and life is a nightmare, everything to do with Nickelback and Creed, everything to do with crunk as a genre... the '00s were a horrible decade for pop culture, and besides a few gems like Green Day's American Idiot album or Mean Girls, should be consigned to a dustbin somewhere.
