I am a very liberal Christian. Where do I find an online community who shares my at least some of my characteristics?
Thats pretty tough. What characteristics are most important? I may have encountered what you are looking for here or there. I mean that I need to know in your words what you think would be ideal for you.

List your characteristics and see who responds?

Just basic things. Like I believe in evolution, I don't believe in stories like Sodom and Gomora and Noah's Ark, I don't believe the Bible is inerrant, I have trouble believing the Exodus, I have trouble believing end times prophecies and I don't believe homosexuality is a sin.

I believe Christians exist, and therefore, God exists and Jesus is the son of God.

Thank you foryour response.
This is the forum I frequent since there is always somebody replying, and its moderated. The other social media I have found usually come up under searches for Progressive Christianity or Quaker. There are lots of things to read but not so many online communities, and liberal christians focus on outreach to the poor, usually. If you find a community they will be talking about that or about the world peace process. Its a different set, and there is not such a concern with working out Bible details and scripture quibbles. There is less need for online discussion in other words. Look for forums about community service opportunities. There are few if any liberal christian dating sites, because its an open shop. For dating you could probably just put 'Spiritual' into your search and have it work for christian and non christian sites.

Christian forums suck. You prove to them that much of the Bible is psychopathic mass-killings, and point out that no where does the Bible say that the Bible is the only source of Theological truth, and they delete your posts or ban you!

They can't handle the truth!

Well, if you want to believe in a god, you might want to step outside of the Abrahamic ones, then.

I am a very liberal Christian. Where do I find an online community who shares my at least some of my characteristics?

Picture yourself in the kind of online community you're looking for. What might be happening there, what might you be doing? What would you like to talk about with other people? What would you like to see other people talking about?

You might need to build your community yourself. I don't mean start a new one of your own, but learn how to find what you're looking for in more than one place. Make up five or ten imaginary conversations that you might like to see, and some that you might start yourself. Then do a Web search with "forum" and some key words from your imaginary conversations.

You might find part of what you're looking for here. I had a conversation here a few days ago, exactly like what I've always dreamed of, and never found before in more than fifteen years in Internet discussions.

One possibility might be Facebook. I scorned Facebook for a long time, but now my Facebook neighborhood has turned out to be my favorite online community, the best place to go to discuss anything I want to discuss, and get friendly and helpful responses, and to see things happening that I like to see. I only add people to my friend list that I've already known well for a long time, and I've learned how make my news feed show me what I want to see. One example is people posting images of beauty. Every time I go on Facebook I try to share some beauty from other people's posts. The more I like and share beauty, the more Facebook adds it to my news feed.

Picture yourself in the kind of online community you're looking for. What might be happening there, what might you be doing? What would you like to talk about with other people? What would you like to see other people talking about? If you post some examples of what might be happening, and what you might do, in your dream community, people might have more ideas of where you might find it. You might have to go one place for one part of it, and another place for another.

So in other words, you're not a Christian. Man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God. All those things you say you don't believe or have trouble believing, have proceeded out of the mouth of God. God has testified in the Bible as to the Divine inspiration and inerrancy of His Word. God also says that men with itching ears will gather up teachers for themselves that will tell them what they want to hear. But God does not approve of them.

'God has testified in the Bible' 'inerrancy of His Word' translates to "I pay to be told what I want to hear weekly." First of all, the word Bible does not appear in the Bible. That is an invention. Secondly, the warning about itching ears? That neatly describes a situation where a man or woman is paid to say things, and in particular well describes modern churches where if the correct words are not said the person is fired. I cannot believe the dump you have laid on this person's porch so viciously and at the same time so ignorantly.

After listening to all that you don't believe in, I cannot believe that you are a liberal Christian, or for that Matter, a Christian at all. Do you believe in Christ, who believed that Jonah was in the belly of the big fish for three days and three nights? As you don't believe that Sodom and Gommora was destroyed because of their sinfulness, then you call Christ a liar, who confirmed that they were destroyed and the reason for that destruction. You don't believe Peter who speaks of the flood in the days of Noah.

But we could go on and on about what you don't believe in, best you go and join an atheist community, as you could never fit into a Christian one. Like you, the atheists also refuse to accept that the cosmos was created by Intelligent design, you would fit in well with their Godless and hopeless beliefs, that the death of the body, is also the death of the mind/spirit that has developed within that created body.

Neither of you have any business telling someone what their religion is or isn't so mind your business. If they believe in Jesus, that makes them a Christian. That's the bare minimum standard.

These really sound like accusations. Nobody is calling Christ a liar except perhaps for someone who claims to be an authority on what to believe, and would that be you? Does it say "Let God be true and every man a liar?" or do we skip that part. What is the value of boasting and talking down to people, especially seekers. What does Jesus have to say about turning away those you feel are unworthy. I think he says to remove the log from your own eye. What does Jesus say to the man who says "Lord I believe help my unbelief." Does he say "Go away you stinking atheist?" I really don't think you have a clue about it, not about any of it. I think you are a backward Bible student, confounded and blind. How else could you go on the attack against this person. Oh, but you will have everyone believe that miracles prove honesty, never mind what the Bible says about that. Never mind that it says not to trust in such things. Never mind what Jesus says about how not even a resurrection can change someone's heart. Instead just make everyone pay lip service to some formula and browbeat anyone who has questions or doubts. Lets make it be all about the miracles and totally ignore what the miracles stories are trying to say. Not.

Obviously you feel its all about believing certain formulaic words and pulling weeds which you take to be all other believers I guess.

The Anointed...….. Matey! Christ said that Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed because of their wickedness, if anyone says, I don't believe that there was ever a Sodom and Gomorrah, then pray tell, how can they believe in Christ who they don't believe.

Brickjectivity wrote........ Does it say "Let God be true and every man a liar?" or do we skip that part.

The Anointed...….. Certainly not. But you have read Paul's statement in Romans 3: haven't you? And you are not attempting to take it out of the context in which it was written, are you? You are not saying; "Let us allow people to call Jesus a liar and still be a part of the community which believes every word that the Lord put into the mouth of his prophet Jesus, are you?.

Brickjectivity wrote...….. What is the value of boasting and talking down to people, especially seekers.

The Anointed...……. If they seek the truth, they would believe in the words of the Lord as spoken through his chosen prophet Jesus, and the Apostles, who spoke of the flood and the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah.

What does the Lord say about a person who chooses to reject the words of the Lord as spoken through his chosen prophet.
Deuteronomy 18-19; "I will raise up for them a prophet like you from among their fellow Israelites, and I will put MY WORDS in his mouth. He will tell them everything I command him. I myself will call to account anyone who does not listen to MY WORDS that the prophet speaks in MY NAME."

Brickjectivity wrote...….. What does Jesus have to say about turning away those you feel are unworthy. I think he says to remove the log from your own eye.

The Anointed...….. Do not attempt to twist and distort my words youngen. I am not Judging the person which Matthew 7: 5, is referring to, where in verse 6, he goes on to say; "Do not give what is Holy to dogs-----They will only turn and attack you. Do not throw your pearls in front of swine, they will only trample them underfoot.

TruePathFinder asked; "Where do I find an online community who shares my at least some of my characteristics/beliefs?' which are, I believe in evolution, [in other words, I deny that intelligent design has any part in the creation of the cosmos] I don't believe in stories like Sodom and Gomora and Noah's Ark, I don't believe the Bible is inerrant, I have trouble believing the Exodus, I have trouble believing end times prophecies.

So I advised the person to join the theist online community as they share many of those characteristics/beliefs.

Brickjectivity wrote...….. What does Jesus say to the man who says "Lord I believe help my unbelief." Does he say "Go away you stinking atheist?"

The Anointed...….. Are you making the filthy accusation that I called that person a stinking atheist and told them to go away? I certainly hope not. because that is ban material.

Brickjectivity wrote...….. I really don't think you have a clue about it, not about any of it. I think you are a backward Bible student, confounded and blind.

The Anointed...….. And you are entitled to your opinion of myself as I am of you.

Brickjectivity wrote...….. How else could you go on the attack against this person. Oh, but you will have everyone believe that miracles prove honesty, never mind what the Bible says about that. The Anointed......…. Please reveal where I have attacked that person, who does not believe in the creation through intelligent design, who does not believe in stories like Sodom and Gomora and Noah's Ark, who doesn't believe the Bible is inerrant, and has trouble believing the Exodus, and believing end times prophecies. and asked the question; "Where do I find an online community who shares my at least some of my characteristics;beliefs?'

Would you advise that person to go to a Catholic online community, who does not share those beliefs, or to an atheist online community, who do share those beliefs?

Brickjectivity wrote...….. Obviously you feel its all about believing certain formulaic words and pulling weeds which you take to be all other believers I guess.

The Anointed........ NO! Unlike yourself, I feel that it is all about giving good advise to someone, who does not believe in the creation through intelligent design, who does not believe in stories like Sodom and Gomora and Noah's Ark, who doesn't believe the Bible is inerrant, and has trouble believing the Exodus, and trouble believing end times prophecies. as to where they could find an online community who at least shares some of their beliefs.
