What is heaven like?

There was the "original" Elijah (the Tishbite) -then John the Baptist came "in the spirit and power of Elijah -Christ also said that another Elijah would come and restore all things -and there is also Elijah THE prophet who will come before the great and terrible day of the Lord.

Though most live and die -then await resurrection at the return of Christ or a thousand years later -Elijah THE prophet will apparently be born again flesh as one of the two witnesses of Revelation -who will also have power over rain, etc.
That might be considered reincarnation -but also resurrection in the flesh.
Technically, Lazarus was resurrected in the flesh -he just wasn't dead as long.

Elijah the prophet before the day of the Lord....

Though not all the same individual, they all accomplish one overall thing -preparing the way of the Lord, etc., over time. So Malachi 4 applied to John the Baptist somewhat -but specifically to the one who would come before the day of the Lord (which precedes his return and follows the "great tribulation" of the end time -likely one of the two witnesses...

Rev 11:6 These have power to shut heaven, that it rain not in the days of their prophecy: and have power over waters to turn them to blood, and to smite the earth with all plagues, as often as they will.

Just as God is able to give people specific talents, abilities, knowledge, etc., it would also not be impossible to grant one or more a similar spirit and power as Elijah (John the baptist and the Elijah to restore all things) -even if they were not the specific individual.

(Though not widely believed, that which needed to be restored is logically that which had been lost to most -that being the necessity of keeping the Sabbath and biblical holy days as Christ and his followers observed -even Gentiles -as well as correct understanding of the true gospel of the kingdom.)

Those in the first resurrection will be given powerful and invulnerable bodies, and they will reign on Earth with Christ for a thousand years before the rest of the dead are resurrected and given the opportunity to live forever.
Humans will repopulate during that time -and will probably continue to reproduce and be made immortal without end -as it is written that of the increase of his government there will be no end.
The bodies we will be given when made immortal are said to be like Christ's glorious body -by which he is able to subdue all things unto himself -by which he created the entire universe and all of the worlds therein.
It is also written that those born of the spirit will travel in a manner similar to the wind.
It is written that the entire creation awaits liberation from decay by the children of God.
Christ is called "the firstborn of many brethren".
We will essentially create awesomeness throughout the universe.
Earth will essentially become its headquarters.
There are many verses which detail the changes which will happen on Earth.
Animals will be changed so they do not harm each other or humans.
Humans will be kept from warfare while they learn peace.
They will use their implements of war for agriculture and will cease to learn war.
All nations will go up to Jerusalem to keep the feast of tabernacles after Christ begins to reign -or they will receive no rain.
Extreme changes will be made to the earth (fountains in the deserts, valleys raised, mountains lowered, etc., etc.) to make more and better materials and resources available.
Eventually, the works which we have made on the earth thus far will be burnt up -and any harm done healed.
There will be a new heavens and new Earth.
All will learn to get along and create together in peace and happiness -without conflict.

The meek shall inherit the Earth

Rev 5:9And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation; 10And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.

At the first resurrection, those in Christ will be changed -made immortal.
The dead in Christ will be raised first -and the living in Christ will be caught up with them and they will meet Christ in the air. Then they will ever be with the Lord.

They do not then go to heaven -because Christ comes down from heaven and remains on Earth. If they went to heaven, they would not be with him. The tabernacle of God will be with men -and he will dwell with them -on Earth.

Christ said no man has ascended to heaven except the son of man who came down from heaven -yet Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven.
Christ did not make a mistake. Elijah went up into the sky (and was apparently seen by men on Earth later if I remember correctly). Christ came from and returned to the heaven where throne of God is now.

Regardless, the point is that though we may eventually see where God's throne is now, that is not where we go when we die or when we are resurrected. It is not our reward.
Also, as God and the lamb will dwell in the new Jerusalem -be sought there -themselves be the temple there -send forth the law from there -there would be little point going elsewhere to heaven when they are here. Technically, God is everything and everywhere -but the place God chooses from which to administer then will be on Earth.

This describes the new Jerusalem which comes down from heaven to Earth...

I believe that makes sense.

I believe this is another instance of a different meaning of heaven. Here it means that which can't be seen ie the spiritual realm. So this heaven is anywhere that God is which is everywhere including within or nearby.

You seem to be ignoring some verses and trying to make the others fit your present beliefs.

Christ WAS resurrected, was seen on earth -and returned to heaven -FROM WHICH he will return to Earth even as he was seen going!

His feet WILL STAND on the mount of Olives when he returns to Earth in power and glory -and the armies of the Earth gathered in Megiddo to fight each other will turn to fight him. He will literally fight those nations and defeat them.

Those who are made immortal kings and priests will reign with Christ a thousand years ON EARTH.

Rev 20:6Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.

Rev 5: 10And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.

The body the body returns to dust -and the spirit returns to God who gave it.

Humans will repopulate on earth during the thousand years (and will likely continue to reproduce on earth afterward) -and all will eventually become spirits. They can indeed exist as humans in the kingdom of God -but will not inherit the kingdom until made immortal.

For now, consider that Moses saw the back parts of the glorious body of the being who became Christ.

The 1st heavens/earth is the one of Noah's day - the heavens and earth of OLD - 2 Peter 3:5
The 2nd heavens/earth is from Noah's day to our day - the heavens and earth of NOW - 2 Peter 3:7
The 3rd heavens/earth is from Day One of Jesus coming reign- the NEW heavens and earth - 2 Peter 3:13. NEW in the sense the heavens and earth will be cleansed of wickedness - Psalms 92:7

Heaven is the reward for those who are part of the first or earlier resurrection - Revelation 20:6; 2:10
They reign in heaven with Christ - John 14:19. They have immortality as granted to Christ- John 5:26
To me, they are Jesus ' spiritual ' brothers of 1 Corinthians 15:50; Matthew 25:40

To me, the majority of mankind have a future resurrection on Earth - Acts of the Apostles 24:15
They can be part of the humble meek to inherit Earth. A beautiful paradisical Earth - Matthew 5:5
That future resurrection starts with Day One of Jesus' coming 1,000-year governmental rulership over Earth when there will be healing for earth's nations - Revelation 22:2, and to me, even enemy death will be No more on Earth - 1 Corinthians 15:26; Isaiah 25:8.
As Adam was Not immortal, but offered everlasting life on Earth as long as Not breaking God's Law.
So, mortal mankind living on Earth can gain everlasting physical life on Earth in perfect physical health as originally offered to mortal Adam before his downfall.

I believe Paul mentions seven heavens. Perhaps the seventh Heaven is Heaven.
