Please Explain: "Gay Christian"

Well, if you sinned there must be victims. Those victims will be resurrected as everyone will and so they will be able to witness.

Ephesians chapter 5:

8 For you were once darkness, but are now light in the Lord. Walk as children of light,
9 for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth,
10 proving what is well-pleasing to the Lord.
11 Have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather even reprove them.
12 For the things which are done by them in secret, it is a shame even to speak of.
13 But all things, when they are reproved, are revealed by the light, for everything that is revealed is light.

As christians we reveal evil.
I don't think we should betray anyone, but our good deeds (light) reprove evil deeds (darkness). So I wonder how your bad deeds can be a light if they aren't revealed?

I agree.
It's not a duty to confess, but why would you place your sins as a burden on your shoulders?
I always find it a relief to admit something I did.

In John 20:22-23 it is written as follows:

When he had said this, he breathed on them, and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit!
Whoever’s sins you forgive, they are forgiven them. Whoever’s sins you retain, they have been retained.”

To me it seems that he who has received the holy spirit, has power to forgive sins.
How can I forgive you, if you don't confess?
Aren't you forcing me to retain your sins this way?

Note that it's not just God who forgives you. It's God who forgives you through his followers.

Well, I agree with everything you've just said. I forgive myself, and God forgives me. That is all the forgiveness I need.

I'd really like to hear this truth of yours, laid out here, point by point, each point backed by fact, without resorting to a plethora of logical fallacies. Bring your facts, bring your witnesses, bring sound exegetical examples. Tell us exactly why:

homosexuality is a sin, and
why homosexuals should not be allowed to marry.

I'd just like to hear -- after forty-some-odd pages of provocative rhetoric, some real argument. I think our homosexual friends deserve at least that.

Honestly, I think if I laid it out on the table here, the language would be so offensive, I'd be banned for sure. Sorry bud, it ain't gonna happen.

I doubt it.
If you sin against another brother he can come to you and say what you did to him. From there on it depends on whether you listen to him or not (Matthew 18:15). You will need his forgiveness, but how will he be able to forgive you if you don't listen acting as if it never happened?
It's not just God's forgiveness you need.
Jesus said it himself. Whoever we retain his sins, they've been retained.

But you say; when a homosexual loves another homosexual and they sleep with each other they sin. You said the one homosexual sins against his partner, while neither of them ever complained.
When I did the homosexual act I felt troubles arising with my identity.
I felt ashamed, so I guess I sinned against myself.
No wonder. I'm a heterosexual.

I found faith in several practicing gays I talked with.
They've been able to convince me. They've been able to built me in the spirit. They are oppressed which is certainly a property belonging to a believer. Heterosexuals have been bullying me too just for having gay friends. How many times is it written that you're on the right track if you're being prosecuted?

Uh huh. I thought you'd evade. The fact is, you don't have any such valid argument, because a valid argument wouldn't get you banned. Valid arguments don't rely on "offensive language."

So, my take-away from this is that your position is the result of a lot of meaningless balloon-juice and highly-biased opinion -- no fact. Thanks for validating that observation.

Yeah. I didn't get that either.

Why do you HAVE to use offensive language in order to state your opinions?

Unless of course he is just going to shout gay slurs without any reason for doing so other than...

It's icky? They're them there sinners y'all!

A horse can always say nay.
I don't mean to nag, but you're going to have to rein in your humor. This is a mane-stream forum. No horsing around allowed. Hoof it on over to a humor forum. Or pony up the penalty. Unless you'd like to Mare-y a horse. Which may be possible if you're a member of a colt. I'm just foal of it, aren't I? Maybe Gallop could have a poll to see who's hackneying up the boards more?

I never discriminate against homosexuals.

I presently have the right to marry a woman, and so does every single adult male homosexual in the world.

And why exactly would they do that? Also, where I'm from, (the United States) laws are not based on religion. Also... I hate to bring up the slippery slope argument, but if we ban 2 men or 2 women from getting married, then what is keeping us from creating laws that forbid 2 people of different races from getting married? Or 2 people of different religions from getting married? What's preventing them from banning secular marriages, Jewish marriages, Hindu marriages, and Muslim marriages? Your religion does not have a monopoly on marriage... In fact, the concept of marriage predates both Judaism and Christianity.

What do you know...

A Christian that gets their panties in a tangle over what other people do.

Some people have common sense.

I know that the scriptures declare that homosexuality is an abomination to God. I believe it is true. And I know that I care whether or not people are doing those things which God considers abominations. I care that there are those who desire to promote such sinful behavior. I care that young children are being persuaded by people who think as such that homosexuality is okay. I care that by such teachings, many souls will be lost.

Do you not have a few scientific facts to back up your notion of common sense?

Yet he creates people that are more susceptible to it... What a winner huh?

Are you asking for scientific facts to dispute biblical claims?

As if the fact that it contains talking bushes, talking snakes, talking donkeys, a 600 year old man who built a 520 foot long boat containing two of every single animal on the earth, and a man who sat in a whale's stomach for 3 days without being digested somehow wasn't enough.:biglaugh:

I know that you interpret the scriptures to declare that homosexuality is an abomination to God. Actually the texts say nothing about homosexuality.

Catholicism doesn't teach that view of hell, at least not anymore.

You say this as a matter-of-fact as if the Catholic Church is the ultimate authority and then on another thread you completely disregard what Catholicism teaches about homosexuality, as if they don't know what they are talking about. You so crazy :D

If you want to keep making a play on words fine. Yes scriptures don't say anything about homosexuality, just sodomy and sodomites (everytime I say that word I think of JJ saying, Dyna-o-mite!). So, using critical thinking skills, do think that is something that does or does not almost exclusively pertain to homosexuals?

It's not a "play on words." The ancients were unaware of homosexuality as an orientation. The injunctions are against homoerotic acts, which -- according to them -- were only performed by heterosexual people, because they thought all men were naturally attracted to women. There are acts of rape which are not homosexual in nature, as well.

You might take your own suggestion and use some critical thinking yourself. ;)
