Hylian religion

Hylian religion is centered around the three golden godesses Din, Nayru and Farore. Together they created the world and then left a portion of their power in the holy Triforce, a three-piece object that can grant wishes. The current whereabouts of this item are unknown, but it's possible that the three pieces belong to the current day incarnations of Gannon (the demon king), Zelda (the princess of the Light World) and Link (the hero of time). When evil tries to seize the full triforce, an incarnation of Link will rise to prevent it.

You find some mythical similarities between Hylian religion and Christianity. Hylian religion also speaks of a great deluge that covered all of the lost land Hyrule in water. However, because of the fact that there are different timelines (because of the time travel!) it's difficult to know if this is connected to the Christian deluge myth.

It used to be one of the dominant religions, but many people left it for Christianity because of the perceived benefits (the Bible gives you access to fire magic, for example, as clearly evidenced by The Legend of Zelda for the NES).

We know today of this religion through the great man Shigeru Miyamoto, who through the less convenient medium of video games conveyed the truth.

Of course! How could I have been so blind to the truth? Sign me up now! :D

But what will you do about the Mushroom Kingdom non-believers?

The Mushroom Kingdom non-believers are probably beyond saving. I'm sure that the plumber cult leaders have brainwashed them using what they call "1up mushrooms".

You have forgotten about the goddess Hylia, after which the Hylians are named!

Long ago, when the three gods of old departed from the world that they created, they trusted their ultimate power, the Triforce, to the hands of Hylia so that she could protect it.[2] She did so throughout the Era of the Goddess Hylia. One day, Hylia then met a person who she chose to be her hero, then gave her blessed Sailcloth to him.[3]

She deserves our reverence as well!

Reincarnate?
I'm not quite certain you all are taking this very seriously. But I will have you know that I am myself a believer of the Hylian religion. Don't take me for some nerd who took the games seriously' I have science, research, and history on my side. I also believe in the theories of reincarnation, regarding not just the Hero, Hylia, and Demise, but also of others known to incarnate, such as: Majora, Vaati, Malladus, Aghanim, The Sages, Dark/ Shadow Link, and Ganondorf (separate of Demise).
Now, if you all really are serious, I'd like to hear your replies and exchange theories. I've never been in forums before, but I am a member of a small group who has done our research and studying, and believe in this. We also believe that I may be Shadow Link reincarnate, though it's far fetched, and that one other may be Vaati (gufuu.) However, I recognize this as possibly wishful thinking, and would like to hear further opinions.

I don't know about reincarnation, but I do love the Zeldaverse. Hylian religion has some interesting symbols and mythology. It also made more sense to me growing up than supposedly real religions. :D

We should discuss the significance of the Triforce.

Reincarnate?
I agree. I believe that the triforce is not a physical relic, but more a state of mind reccomended us by the goddesses. If one is brave, and seeks out wisdom, and betters his strength, he will be unbeatable. Or, in modern application, if you work hard, make good decisions, and keep fearless, then nothing can stop you from reaching your goals.

We gain power through skill development and technology. We gain wisdom through applying knowledge in appropriate ways. We gain courage through compassionate action.

Courage isn't being completely without fear. It is taking necessary action in the face of fear.

Well put! Then you agree, it seems, that, as stated, the triforce is not a physical relic, but a representation of the attributes the goddesses wish us to posses.

To be completely honest (as one who has always felt oddly connected to the Legend of Zelda), I'm incredibly intrigued. Tell me more, please :)

I don't know whether or not they wish it for us. They simply embody the attributes. The Triforce is their essence. They don't force anything upon us. It's a series of choices whether we embrace the essence through harmonious action or negate it through one-sided delusion. Typically, the Goddesses are non-interventionists, except in the most extreme circumstances.
