I Have so much more energy on a Vegetarian diet

I was amazed. Yesterday I tried walking a mile. I did it without getting out of breath once, and did it at a quick pace. I was simply shocked. I haven't been able to walk to the corner without getting out of breath in about 3 years.

That seems a strange side effect of not eating meat. Have you cut out anything else?

I notice I have more energy when I cut out sugar....that and get enough sleep.

That's great! A Hindu friend of mine who went vegetarian about a year ago has reported similar results.

I just don't see myself ever eliminating pork, poultry and fish from my diet, but I could live without beef, and I've cut my overall consumption of meat to about half what it was and am eating a lot more vegetables. I'm feeling much better, but I really attribute that to the fact that I'm drinking about a gallon of water a day. The more water I drink, the better I feel. One day last week I only had one glass of water, and it was a miserable, rotten day. You can really tell the difference. Plus, it helps you eat less -- which isn't a concern for you, but it is for me.

Well I cut out junk buttercup.
That's cool! I've heard more that any known food allergy inducers like wheat, eggs, milk, soy, nuts can cause breathing difficulties. I've not heard that eliminating meat makes it easier to breath but, who knows?

Whatever the cause of your better health and vigor, keep on truckin, and doing what you're doing! :)

Well I still eat eggs, I still eat dairy. I eat soy and nuts. I'm vegetarian not vegan :)

My cousin Martha has really bad arthritis, and she says eating meat makes it much worse. She says it's not really the meat itself, but the hormones and whatnot that are in commercially produced meat. I don't know how accurate that is, but it sounds plausible.

Well probably the meat, because I was eating less junk food before I became a vegetarian. It also could be that the vegetarian diet cleansed a lot of things from me that bogged me down, but I am still considering rather I want to eat less meat or stay vegetarian.

I'll have to relay that to my mama. She is really suffering these days with arthritis, she'll try anything.

I swear, the thing that makes me feel the best in the whole world is a good night's sleep and cutting way back on sugar. Much easier said than done, however. We like to stay up late and there's nothing sweet that I will turn down. I'm starting to think getting old has something to do with it too. :p

I've acquired a sweet tooth in the last few years that's a big factor in my gaining so much weight, and also I really just feel better when I don't eat so much sugar. Not that I've cut it out by any means, but I'm learning to choose a cup of yogurt over a big piece of cheesecake -- most of the time.

When I became vegetarian I thought that I had more energy. I didn't feel so weighed down and sluggish, but it could have been my mindset.

But, you know what they say; You are what you eat :D
